Rambler - a truck for the adventurous

The Rambler is not a motorhome. The Rambler is an expeditionary vehicle that will prove itself during long trips to places with difficult conditions in every respect. In this truck you will find equipment that ensures a comfortable rest, but also additional elements increasing safety, off-road properties, or ... giving the possibility of survival in a remote area.

During the last Caravanning Salon in Poznań, the Rambler was probably the biggest sensation. Standing between motorhomes and caravans, he looked like a monstrous monster among stuffed animals.

The huge Mitsubishi Fuso with 4x4 drive had a container attached behind the cabin and a raised roof above it. It takes around 30 seconds for the ceiling to rise to a higher level, revealing canvas walls and additional windows, or for it to lower again, becoming a safety cage for its occupants.

Bulletproof toilet

The safest part of this vehicle is the shower cubicle with toilet.

"Resistant to small arms and grenade shrapnel, it provides a safe haven that no other similar vehicle can provide," says Rodolfo Gomes, managing director at Rambler 4x4 Limited, UK.

Another element increasing the safety of travelers is the "Panic" system. Pressing the appropriate button ensures simultaneous activation of all sirens and lights, locking the vehicle and activating the mechanism of lowering the roof and raising the stairs.

That's not all, because thanks to four cameras located on each side of the car, it is possible to fully control what is happening around the vehicle. Devices equipped with infrared will allow you to observe and record what is happening around you, even at night. So it's possible that Director Gomes is right - in terms of security, the Rambler is second to none.

The magic of big numbers

However, let's hope that those who decide to buy Rambler will not have to check the effectiveness of security systems. After all, a tourist trip should not be associated with a trip to war. And in everyday use, quite different advantages will be more important than a bulletproof toilet.

Who knows if one full refueling will empty the fuel station reserve, because we can fill the Rambler with up to 470 liters of diesel fuel. However, such a reserve should be enough for us for 2000 km! And this is even with fuel consumption of 23.5 l / 100 km.

However, not only the fuel tank is large. The luggage space can accommodate up to 1,650 liters of bags, suitcases and equipment, which the manufacturer compares with the capacity of four estate cars.

A clean water tank can last up to two weeks, assuming that we use 18 liters a day (255 liters). Unfortunately, the dirty water tank is not that capacious anymore - 85 liters is not a record value even when compared to campers not intended for extreme expeditions.

The batteries have a capacity of 430 Ah, which - according to the manufacturer - should allow them to survive three days without the need to use an external power supply. But there should also be no problems with charging the batteries.

- We have equipped the vehicle with very sensitive solar panels with a capacity of 750 W. They will allow for energy independence even in shaded or overcast skies - assures Rodolfo Gomes.

Everything and more

Of course, on board you will find all everyday appliances - including a sink, stove (fueled with diesel fuel), a refrigerator (130 l) and a large bed. High gloss white furniture gives the interior a modern look. However, will white prove to be practical when traveling to regions with a lot of dust and dirt?

And here comes another curiosity - the Rambler has a ventilation system that maintains overpressure in the vehicle! The system prevents dust from getting inside when driving on sandy roads, and this should help keep the interior clean.

Water should also be clean, even if we use unreliable external sources. The vehicle has a filter that allows you to clean water drawn from natural reservoirs. A special filter with a water separator has also been installed, which ensures safe engine operation even when the fuel is of poor quality.

The manufacturer argues that thanks to the 4x4 drive, high torque, rear and front axle locks, winch, sand traps and a compressor for pumping wheels, Rambler is a great proposition for travelers who want to explore all corners of the world without restrictions.

In Poznań, we were able to see that many Poles would like to go on long trips. Visitors also liked exotic dishes, incl. made of camel and llama meat, which the Rambler crew served at their stand. So it can be concluded that the first stage of preparations is behind us. Now you only need to save "a little penny" and you are ready to go on an adventure!
