Burstner Lyseo A 660 in Masuria - CampRest test

In September, we went four people to a rally organized by Elcamp in Masuria, in Ryn. The Burstner Lyseo A 660 - a semi-integrated, small motorhome based on Fiat Ducato was used as a means of transport and at the same time. I drove a total of 1,300 km by car.

General impressions

It is not a huge car, but spacious. The car is 6.5 m long, 2.3 m wide and 3.2 m high. The permissible total weight is 3.5 tons and the load capacity is 630 kg. I got the basic version, so I describe what the factory "gave".

Already during the trip to Masuria, quiet buildings caught my attention - nothing squeaked and I felt that the car was well fitted. It wasn't so quiet in the back. Passengers complained a bit about the noise while driving, but agreed that they traveled in louder cars.

I must note that the Lyseo A 660 is not an economical vehicle. Fuel consumption at 110 km / h was as much as 15 l. In my opinion, taking into account that it is an alcove car, the 130 HP engine is not sufficient for such high air resistance. In addition, while driving in ruts, I had the impression that the car is not very stable, and because it is suspended very high, it rocks even more. People suffering from the labyrinth disease will not be delighted;).

A quite large, spacious interior (for such a short motorhome) made a positive impression on me. The Lyseo A 660 seemed very wide, probably due to the flat floor (there was no characteristic step by the door or the transition from the cab to the living area).

The lack of a wardrobe behind the passenger seat allows you to put the backrest or turn the seat (which is rare in motorhomes with an alcove). Of course, the wardrobe in the motorhome is large and will accommodate a lot of hanging wardrobe. Nothing will wrinkle and you won't need to iron, as long as you put things on the hangers well.

Sleeping area

As I mentioned, despite the fact that we had the basic model at our disposal, the construction was of very good quality. I noticed a nice layout with a bunk bed in the back.

In general, the car has four fixed beds - a double bed in the alcove and two single, bunk beds in the back. Two additional ones can be arranged in the place of the table, while the "emergency" one is rather a reserve bed, for example "for the mother-in-law", when we decide to leave together;). The bed in the alcove is not raised, which makes it difficult to enter the cab from the living area.

Bathroom and kitchen

There is a lot of space at the table. There is also a large, spacious absorption refrigerator with freezer in the kitchen area. It will fit both food and drink for a few days.

The bathroom with an opening shower wall caught my attention - it is a rare solution in motorhomes that have an integrated toilet with shower, but I liked it very much. More often, instead of this, plastic curtains are used that stick to everything, and then it's hard to get rid of the moisture.

Pouring gray water is slightly problematic as it can only be done with a special key. If your child is in a good mood and hides it somewhere, or you lose this miracle somewhere - then you have a problem with draining the water. I do not understand where this idea came from.

Windows and doors

The roof windows are interesting. To open them, you first need to move the mosquito net. It is very inconvenient, because if we have the mosquito net closed in the evening and the light is on, a million insects flutter with it. When it suddenly starts to rain, for example, and you need to quickly close the window, the result is that all insects fly inside, where they can feel at home.

The wide, 70-centimeter door, which, however, lacks a skylight, deserves praise. You can order one for an additional fee. In the basic version, there is also no mosquito net at the gate. It is not surprising, but in the case of a brand such as Burstner, I would expect something more ...

I missed an integrated central locking that would also close the living area. I also noticed a small, but annoying detail. The step that allows you to enter the car does not hide automatically after the engine is started. Instead, our oversight is reminded by a shrill sound that tells you to unfasten your seat belts, get up, walk to the door and press the button to hide the stairs ...

Electricity

Bookworms will appreciate the presence of lamps by the beds. However, we will not find any sockets there (neither 230 V, 12 V or USB), which is problematic because we will not charge electronic equipment at night next to the bed.

p9101065jpg

Interestingly, we will not find USB sockets in the entire living area - which is probably due to the most modest equipment options. However, I believe that such things should be standard equipment these days. On the other hand, 12 V sockets were installed in the German standard (so-called "thin") - this is inconvenient, especially in the case of a motorhome from a rental company operating on the Polish market.

Garage

The garage is large enough, as long as you do not use the lower bunk bed, because in that case it becomes very small. I consider it a big minus of the Lyseo A 660. It also lacks a second door, which complicates putting things in and out quite a bit. It only exacerbates the functionality problem of this boot.

Summary

The overall experience of using a Burstner built motorhome is pretty cool. I believe that the car is made of good quality materials and everything fits very well. Most of the disadvantages that I described above, however, are due to the lowest possible equipment, which can be easily changed by ordering a motorhome for yourself.

I do not know who to recommend the interior layout we tested to. Supposedly, bunk beds are perfect for children, but if you are going on a trip with a family of 4, the smaller luggage compartment, due to the bed in it, may not accommodate all the things needed for the trip. The daily unfolding of the bed in the dining area will also be troublesome. Considering the above, I would choose this model only if I were planning trips for 3 people.

The camper was lent us for testing by the Caravans-Mika company from Katowice.

I liked

  • Quiet buildings
  • Solution with an opening wall in the shower
  • Roominess
  • A large worktop in the kitchen
  • Lots of space at the table
  • Very wide entrance door

I would like it more if

  • The garage was bigger
  • There was a second garage door
  • Roof windows were opened by a crank with a closed mosquito net
  • There were more 230V and USB sockets
  • The heating was diesel
