If we are looking for a resort where we can ski, admire the raw beauty of nature and relax on the lake shore, we will find the perfect place in the High Tatras .

True nature lovers come to ski to the place where the lake is the biggest attraction. It is beautiful here not only in winter - also on hot summer days, we will meet many hikers on the trails, wandering slowly to meet the mountain flora and fauna.

We are talking about the highest situated village in the High Tatras, that is Strbske Pleso . It is located on the southern shore of a post-glacial water reservoir called Strbske Pleso, and tourists who come here admire the picturesque panorama of the Low Tatras and the Poprad and Liptov Basin. The resort is not only a famous Slovak winter sports center, but also has the status of a climatic spa. The ice covering the lake's surface in winter is so transparent that it was reportedly transported as far as Budapest and Berlin in the past.

To get to Strbske Pleso, it is best to use the border crossing Lysa Polana-Tatranská Javorina. After crossing the border, we will reach the Tatra Valley by road no. 67, and then by road no. 537 through Łomnica Tatrzańska and Smokowce to the resort. It is approximately 21 km from Zakopane. The great advantage of the town is the large number of parking spaces - both paid and free.

Strbske Pleso - small is beautiful

Strbske Pleso is a small resort, and it does not have hundreds of kilometers of ski slopes. It can even be said that its offer is quite modest. However, it successfully makes up for it with the beauty of the area, clean air and many tourist attractions. There are two ski jumps (K-90 and K-120, from the top of which bungee jumping is organized), and visitors to the resort can use the slopes and slalom runs. A winter stadium was also made available to them.

During your stay at the resort, you can practice extreme sports such as paragliding. You can take advantage of the possibility of skating on the Strbske Pleso , take part in a sleigh ride and practice the so-called skiring, or skiing behind a galloping horse. A local attraction is also a fun park, where those willing can get acquainted with attractions such as snowtubing, snow rafting and bungee running.

Lovers of skiing can ski on six routes. Their total length is 7.36 km. All trails are artificially snowed and are served by five lifts (3 cable cars and 4 chairlifts). The resort also has a children's ski lift. The slopes are intended for intermediate skiers, but only one of them is really aimed at people who are just learning to ski - it is route number 6.

Ski pass prices in the season 2013/2014

People who come to the resort with the intention of checking the local ski routes can use all the lifts in Štrbské Pleso after purchasing one pass. The ski season begins on December 7, 2013 and ends on April 21, 2014. In the high season, a 1-day ski pass for an adult skier costs 35 euros, for children - 25 euros, and for young people and seniors 28 euros. In turn, the 6-day ticket costs 186 euro for an adult, 130 euro for a child and 149 euro for young people and seniors.

The resort offers ski and snowboard rentals, ski-service and ski schools for beginners. What, apart from skis? Ski mountaineering is possible in the region, and the resort offers 18 km of perfectly prepared cross-country skiing trails. If we have more time and want to get to know the area, we can go to the aquapark Tatralandia located in Liptovsky Mikulas or to Poprad, where the AquaCity complex awaits its guests.
