How to scare away mosquitoes

If we plan to barbecue in the evening, we have a choice of either getting rid of insects or preparing a plan to discourage them from disturbing our peace. How can we make it difficult for them to make our lives difficult?

This year's winter was exceptionally mild, not to say that it was not there at all. As a result, we face evenings filled with the fight against persistent mosquitoes - their larvae have survived the dormant period without any problems and now reproduce happily. How to deal with them so that you can spend time in the open air with your family, grill or just relax?

The best defense is attack

In fact, you can think about protection against insects much earlier, especially when arranging flower beds on a plot or in a garden. When preparing a place for summer grilling, let's plant a nice catnip nearby or aromatic herbs such as peppermint, thyme or basil. Spending time in the open space will also be made more pleasant by the subtle scent of lavender - pleasant for the human, and unbearable for the mosquito nose. Among the scent "enemies" of insects there are also myrtle, calendula and a plant with the meaningful name komarzyca (aka koleusowaty plektrantus).

Herbs such as basil or mint can also be invited home and grown in pots on the windowsill. The scent spread by them will create effective protection against mosquitoes, building an invisible second pane.

A more direct form of defense against bites is the installation of special insecticidal lamps. In addition to the insect decoy light source, they are equipped with an electric net that electrocutes every winged visitor who inadvertently approaches it.

Homemade ways to scare away mosquitoes

One of the easiest ways to protect yourself is to apply preparations containing an ingredient called DEET (an organic chemical compound from the group of amides) to the skin. They act as a deterrent, but we must remember that they are not indifferent to the body - wash them off the skin before going to bed. They should not be used in newborns up to two months of age.

Fragrance oils, which can be used to prepare a spread for spreading, are characterized by a much more gentle, but also weaker effect. In their intensity, they can cause severe allergic reactions, so it is more sensible to dilute them with baby oil, cooking oil or cosmetic oil (e.g. grape seed oil). The mixture should consist of a tablespoon of oil and 10 drops of oil, e.g. clove, lavender or lemongrass. Peppermint, tea, anise, basil or thyme oils also have a deterrent effect. The use of fragrance oils is pleasant, but requires applying the preparation to the skin several times a day.

"Ah, sleep baby"

Aroma spirals are also an effective way to pacify uninvited guests, as they gradually release smoke with the right aroma to repel mosquitoes.

If, on the other hand, insects have settled on our ceilings, we can get rid of them thanks to turpentine. It is enough to leave a jar with this drug in a closed room (in which we are not going to sleep!), And in the morning remove any dead insects from the floor and ventilate the room thoroughly.
