Everything points to the fact that in the near future the Szczyrkowski Ski Center can be safely called the most modern facility of this type in Poland. A Slovak investor who plans to implement a modernization plan proven in his country here has become interested in the site.

In the spring of 2014, Tatry Mountain Resorts as, an investor from Slovakia, purchased 97 percent of the shares in the Szczyrk Ski Resort. Previously, activities aimed at surveying all ski runs and ski lifts that currently exist, as well as areas for planned ski runs and railway lines, were carried out. For the modernization to be possible, changes to the local spatial development plan and a development study will be needed. Work on creating improved versions of these documents started at the end of August and continues to date.

Szczyrk Ski Resort today

Tatry Mountain Resorts as intends to modernize SON according to a model that has already proven itself in its home territory - it has been tested in ski stations in Tatranska Lomnica and in Jasna near Chopok. After completing the analyzes and establishing the modernization work plan, the next step is to regulate the lease of all areas on which the center will operate. As a result, it will also be necessary to establish the terms of new multi-annual contracts. The Slovak sponsor plans to close the issue of the finalization of procedural works by mid-2016, which will enable the implementation of the construction activities program in the next year.

Currently, Szczyrkowski Ski Resort has 19 km of ski slopes, 54% of which are covered by snow. There are 13 T-bar lifts, and their total capacity is less than 10,000 people per hour.

SON modernization plans

The investor plans to expand and rebuild some of the routes in the first place. Their length will increase - to almost 22 km , of which the blue will be 16 km, the red 4 km, and the black 2 km. The length of routes with lighting will increase to over 5.5 km. A modern snowmaking system will be created, and 81% of all station routes, i.e. over 17.7 km, will be covered by it.

The most changes have been planned in the construction of new ski lifts. Four T-bar lifts, a gondola lift with 10-seater carriages are to be built, as well as four 6-seater and one 8-seater sofa. The project will increase the capacity of the lifts almost twice - to 18.2 thousand people per hour .

Special zones for children will be created, the plans also include a modern snow park , three après-ski bars and three restaurants with the possibility of serving 750 people at the same time. The construction of an event zone with facilities enabling the organization of all-season events is planned at Hala Skrzyczeńska.

Four car parks with a total capacity of over 1500 cars will be waiting for lovers of skiing (and not only). What is important - they should be free. I wonder if the Slovaks will take care of special parking spaces for motorhomes, where it will be possible to connect to the electricity and empty the tanks.
