Holidays in the mountains or by the water? If you can't decide, we recommend checking out what Czech Switzerland has to offer. We guarantee that you will be delighted. Spectacular rock formations, canyons and gorges are just some of the breathtaking views of this Czech region. We encourage you to read!

Canyons of Bohemian Switzerland

An attraction that combines both beauty and emotion is a boat trip in the gorges on the Kamenica River. Edmund's Gorge and Dziki Wąwóz are deep canyons in sandstone rocks, accessible only by water. Their steep walls, up to 150 meters high, create an extraordinary landscape. Some rock towers, thanks to their unique shapes, have their own names, such as the Rock Family or the Guardian. Water routes leading upstream of the Kamenica River or under the Winged Walls will delight every tourist.

During the cruise through these gorges, the carrier will tell you about the history of the places, curiosities and the fauna and flora of the region. Cruises through Edmund's Gorge and Dziki Wąwóz last approximately 20 and 15 minutes, respectively, providing an extraordinary adventure among the rocky landscape.

Pravicka Gate

An equally unforgettable experience will be a walk along the forest path along the steep walls of the canyon. During a 15-kilometer trip from Hřensk, which lasts about 6 hours, tourists can admire the monumental rock bridge - Pravčická Gate, considered a symbol of Bohemian Switzerland. The path continues through forest areas along steep rock walls, over hanging bridges, to the foot of the Little Pravčický Stoň. Walking along Gabriela's path, you can admire views of rock formations such as Sugar Loaf or Wing Wall.

If you are not yet convinced whether to visit this place, you must know that some scenes from the "Chronicles of Narnia" series were filmed here.

Jetřichovice viewpoints

Jetřichovické Belvedere is a treasure of Bohemian Switzerland. Just climb one of the viewpoints to understand why. One of the most popular is "Mariina vyhlídka" (Maria's Viewpoint), which offers a view of majestic rocks, including famous rock formations such as Rudolfův kámen and Vilemínina stěna.

Hiking to these viewpoints may be a physical challenge, but the views will certainly make up for the effort. The trails leading to the viewpoints are well marked.

Visitors to Jetřichovické Belvedere are an ideal place for photography enthusiasts, all those who love nature and those who want to spend time outdoors, admiring some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Czech Republic.

Where did the name "Czech Switzerland" come from?

The name "Bohemian Switzerland" was created by analogy to the name "Saxon Switzerland" used to describe the German part of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains (Labské pískovce). This name reflects the unique character of this area - a wealth of rock formations, deep canyons, green forests and picturesque views that resemble the landscapes of Switzerland.

Where to stay with a camper in Czech Switzerland?

We recommend the modern Děčín Campsite - an ideal place for tourists who want to discover the picturesque beauty of Bohemian Switzerland but at the same time be close to the city. The campsite is located between the banks of the Elbe, right on the cycle path, and close to hiking trails, which you can reach on foot, by car or by public transport.

It must be said that the location of the campsite near the road and railway tracks may disturb some tourists during the day, but the noise at night is not bothersome.

Holidays in Czech Switzerland

Czech Switzerland is a very popular place and therefore has a well-prepared tourist infrastructure. In the spring of 2023, a new tourist trail with a total length of 100 km was put into operation. This is the Ridge Trail leading through the entire Bohemian Switzerland. The beginning of the 2023 season was difficult for the region due to the fire in the summer of 2022. From the Ridge Trail you can partially observe how nature comes to life after the fire.

We hope that in 2024 all trails will be normally available to tourists.
