When we think about a place where the beaches are exceptionally clean and the resorts are colorful and full of music not only in summer, Croatia comes to mind. After another moment of reflection, we focus on the island of Krk and its capital of the same name.

Krk - how to pronounce it? Regardless of whether we do it correctly, the town bearing this name is one of the most beautiful and attractive tourist resorts in Croatia. It is situated on the largest island in the Kvaner Bay, also called Krk. Every year they are visited by thousands of lovers of spending free time by the water, both fans of water sports and blissful sunbathing. Its inhabitants make a living mainly from tourism and fishing.

One of the many strengths of Krk is the possibility of getting to the island via the bridge - you don't need to use the ferry. It was built in the 1980s and is almost 1.5 km long. You only pay for the ride at the entrance, while leaving the island is free.

The capital of the Golden Island

It's best to come here in summer, when the streets are filled with bustle and music. A lot of jazz and folk festivals are organized in the old part of the city. In the season there are, among others Tourism Day, where you can try the specialties of the region: boiled lamb, ravioli, fig cake or sardines with fruit. Folklore, vocal and dance performances make tourists' rest time pleasant after a day of sightseeing. And there is a lot to see - Krk boasts the greatest number of monuments in the entire area. Medieval fortifications tower over the resort, and the old town is surrounded by 2,000-year-old thick protective walls. The eyes are also drawn to the dignified early Christian basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, one of the greatest monuments of Krk.

The city has a magnificent cathedral complex and a large number of churches. Each of the sacred buildings deserves attention, especially the Church of Our Lady of Good Health or the Benedictine monastery and the Church of Our Lady of the Angels. These are only a fraction of the monuments that attract sacred architecture enthusiasts to the city every year.

Rest by the water

Many cultural events take place in Kasztel Fronkopański , located at Kamplin Square. This is a must see on the itinerary of a trip to Krk.

Countless pubs and cafes await weary tourists, not to mention souvenir stands. There are a lot of them on Vela Placa , a square full of aromas coming from nearby restaurants. The menu here is based on traditional Croatian and Mediterranean cuisine, i.e. colorful dishes that are an ingenious combination of various flavors.

The resort is famous for its numerous monuments, but also for wonderful pebble and rock beaches. The most popular beaches on the island are the two beaches belonging to the city - Ježevac and Drazica. If someone imagines staying on them as monotonous lying while waiting for a tan, they are wrong. All the beaches around Krk offer vacationers a whole lot of entertainment. You can play tennis, volleyball, basketball, football, and you can also use one of the many cycling and walking paths that run along the entire island.

Camping on the island of KRK

The aforementioned Ježevac beach has been completely renovated this year. It boasts the advantage of the Blue Flag, and what may be even more interesting to those who are considering coming - Camping Ježevac is situated next to it. It has a shop, bar and restaurant, 2 tennis courts and playgrounds. We will pay for a place for a motorhome from about 105 to 150 zlotys, while a day of stay costs from about 25 to 38 zlotys.

Krk is called the Golden Island and its main city is the pearl. It tempts tourists with excellent cuisine, a wealth of beautiful cathedrals and clean water. It's really worth coming here.

Istria - idyll at your fingertips
Croatia has been tempting and captivating with conditions conducive to relaxation for years - beautiful beaches, warm waters of the Adriatic Sea, cities filled with monuments, proximity to stunning nature and the possibility of active recreation. Idyllic holidays are almost at your fingertips, in Istria, 12 hours away from Poland. The country located in the north of the country will appeal to fans of caravanning with family and friends. Find out why below. Croatia, or rather the Republic of Croatia, is a country located in central Europe on the Adriatic Sea. It borders Slovenia to the west, Hungary to the north, Serbia to the north-east and Montenegro to the south-east. In the middle of the country, in its eastern part, there is also a short border with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Croatia is inhabited by around 4.5 million people and covers an area of 56 535 km2. The capital city is Zagreb and the official currency is the Croatian Kuna. The length of the coast, including the islands, is an impressive 5,835 km. It is worth knowing that the topography differs in the north from the south. The north is a lowland area with low mountains, while in the south you will meet mountains up to 2000 m above sea level. The highest peak in the country is Dinara, 1831 m above sea level. Interestingly, Croatia has a two-fold climate - on the coast it is a Mediterranean climate zone, with rainy winter and dry hot summers, and in the rest, temperate continental - with cooler summers and dry cold winters with possible snowfall.
