Birkelund camping

Birkelund campsite is an excellent and natural starting point, whether you want to climb, mountain bike, go fishing or just want to go for relaxing walks in unspoiled and breathtaking nature. You can use Birkelund camp site as a base for various trips by car, motorbike or bicycle. Many people spend their time fishing in the river (Storåni) where the fish are abundant. The best fishing grounds are only 500 meters from the campsite. The Birkelund campsite is situated in a historic cultural landscape telling about the old traditions of mountain milk farming and farming. You can still find dairy mountain farming along with a large herd of goats, and farms where you can buy local brown cheese made of goat's milk and taste a variety of local traditional dishes prepared on a mountain dairy farm. In Hallingdal there are many examples showing how houses were built and decorated in the old days. In local museums or old private well-preserved farms, you'll find old everyday items decorated in an elaborate style, both painted and carved. You can also do winter sports in Hovet (3 km), Hol (3 km), Sudndalen (15 km), Geilo (18 km), Al (25 km) and Gol (50 km). You can experience all of this and much more if you stay at Birkelund Campground. Dogs are provided, as long as they are on a leash, at Birkelund camp site. Camp Birkelund is open all year round.
