You've just arrived on your dream vacation. You have hardly squeezed your caravan or motorhome into the last free space. The campsite is situated in a charming place, not far from the city ... But exactly - does it mean that you will have to walk even for small purchases?

If there is no shop at the campsite or in the immediate vicinity, you have two basic solutions to choose from. The first is daily walks to the city. Sure you can walk once or twice, but imagine you have to walk the same way back and forth every day for 2 or 3 weeks. The second way out is also not convenient. Each time driving a motorhome, maneuvering around the city and trying to park it in front of the store is also not taken into account.

But is there no alternative? Yes it is! A bicycle will work very well in this situation, especially a bicycle with an electric motor . If you have enough strength, you will use muscle strength. If you get tired or the road is uphill, you can use the battery.

How does an electric bike work?

The advantage of the bike is that you can move it not only on asphalt, but also on a dirt road or even a forest path. So you can go by bike where neither a car nor a scooter can handle it (you can read about e-scooters in a separate article).

What distinguishes an electric bike is the battery. But be careful! An e-bike motor won't make you go without pedaling. An e-bike will only support your muscle strength when you press the pedals. The bike can be equipped with several support modes - to choose from.

It will only be up to you to what extent you will use the strength of your muscles and to what extent you will rely on the help of the electric motor. According to the regulations, the engine will help you reach a maximum speed of 25 km / h. If you want to go faster, you can, but on your own (or by making illegal engine modifications).

The bike battery needs recharging. It is usually plugged into a regular socket (230V) for 5-6 hours, but there are also models that require a 10-hour charge. A charged battery usually allows a distance of 30 to 70 km, although there are also bikes whose distance on a single charge exceeds 100 km.

What to look for when buying an electric bike?

If you are buying an e-bike to take it with you, for example, camping, take into account the features that will be important during the transport.

First of all - pay attention to whether the bike is foldable. Thanks to the foldable frame, it will be easier to fit in a motorhome or caravan.

Second - find out how much it weighs. Electric bikes are considered heavy due to the weight of the battery. However, if you're thinking of a lightweight e-bike, you might have one if you opt for a model with an aluminum frame. Thanks to this, you will buy a two-wheeler weighing (already with the battery) about 20 kg.

A practical gadget will be an LCD panel displaying speed, distance traveled and additional information. Also pay attention to the type and capacity of the battery used and the power of the electric motor. Remember that an electric bike will only be a vehicle that does not require registration if the engine power does not exceed 250 W.

How much is an electric bike?

E-bikes come in a variety of designs. There are those that look like typical city bikes and folding bikes are most often offered in this group. The ones that look almost the same as the trekking, mountain or road models are usually not foldable.

There are also those that resemble scooters. Although they look attractive, they are usually not foldable, weigh more, and perform poorly on unpaved roads. Take this into account if you are looking for a practical camping vehicle.

The cheapest electric bikes cost about PLN 2,000. PLN, the most expensive may significantly exceed the budget of 10 thousand. zloty. If you are looking for good value for money, you should spend approx. 4-5 thousand on an e-bike. zloty.
