In the middle of Carthago's offer is the Chic C-line model. Recently, the manufacturer presented the second generation of this fully integrated motorhome model. The base is, as is usually the case, the Fiat Ducato, but who does not know it, will not know it from the outside.

After 10 years, Chic C-line has seen some serious changes. From the outside, the most striking feature is the new kidney grille. The large air intake makes the camper look a bit more threatening. The large panoramic window at the front (9 cm higher than the previous generation) and the bus side mirrors encourage the driver to hit the road. The manufacturer claims that the higher glass improves visibility diagonally upwards , which is useful, for example, when we want to see if red light has already given way to green.

Large beds and tanks

The bed above the front seats in the new model has record dimensions of 1,950 x 1,600 mm. However, we were more surprised by the fresh water container , which can hold up to 170 liters ! The waste water tank has a capacity of 110 liters, but can optionally be replaced with a 150 liter tank.

There are also two gel batteries (80 Ah each) on board, which will allow for considerable independence from external power sources. Inside, there are of course 230 V and 12 V sockets. Solar batteries can be installed on request.

We can store items in the compartments under the floor, but thanks to them we can also get to the tanks and valves. The compartments accessible from the outside are heated and the doors have double seals . The 118 cm high garage is frost-proof and heated.

Spacious and bright

Inside the motorhome, you may be surprised by the amount of space around the table. The L-shaped sofa , side seats and swivel seats for the driver and passenger will probably accommodate two more people than the 5-person purpose of the motorhome would indicate. It is also worth noting that the vehicle is so high that people up to 198 cm will be able to move inside it in an upright position.

The new products include a very extensive LED lighting system . Lamps, small reading lamps, strips, tapes - there are plenty of light points. Some are actually supposed to give more light (e.g. above the kitchen counter), others only set the mood. For a better effect, the car even has a light intensity control, and the lighting is divided, just like at home, into zones : hall, living room, bedroom.

Ingenious options

An interesting fact is that the driver's cockpit is a heating surface - it can become a kind of "radiator" for the interior of the vehicle. The main heating in the car when stationary is provided by the Truma Combi 6 system.

In the kitchen, it is worth paying attention to the hood with an extractor hood , or a coffee machine available for an extra charge. As standard, we get self-closing drawers. The fronts of the furniture throughout the motorhome are made of wood. In contrast, the structure of the vehicle itself is completely wood-free.

Quality has a price

The Chic C-line is available in five different lengths: 6,850 mm, 7,260 mm, 7,390 mm, 7,450 mm and 7,470 mm. In the two longest versions, the toilet with a washbasin has been separated from the shower cubicle , which is an independent room.

The standard permissible total weight of a motorhome is 3.5 tons, but for an additional charge it can be increased up to 4.5 tons . Prices start from 83,550 euros (in Germany).

Carthago provides a 6-year warranty for the tightness of the body with an option to extend it to 10 years.
