Chausson 720 Titanium - extremely versatile

Usually, when deciding on a new motorhome, we are doomed to an elimination path, during which we throw away elements of equipment or appearance, reaching the best option. The situation is completely different in the case of the French semi-integrated, which will be perfect as a family vehicle or for a couple. It is well-equipped, costs little and… it is difficult to find any flaws in it. You don't believe?

For several years now, the Chausson brand has been steadily surprising with fresh, even revolutionary solutions that are hard to find from competitors. A spacious XL living room, two washbasins in the back instead of a standard bedroom, or a strong promotion of insulation and adaptation to winter conditions - these are only some of the solutions we encountered during visits to this manufacturer's exhibition stands. The 720 Titanium model, which you can see in the photos, is also very original. But let's start from the beginning.

Power and comfort? Ford!

Chausson 720 Titanium is based on the Ford Transit. Under the hood we can find everyone who knows the 170 hp 2-liter unit. This set has finally got a "real" automatic transmission. In this way, we get an extremely strong motorhome, with a large reserve of power and torque (405 Nm), but also economical. With very gentle driving, we are able to achieve a combustion result even below 10 liters. The standard result is around 11 liters of diesel for every 100 kilometers driven. It is worth noting that we are talking about a fully loaded vehicle with a 5-person crew on board. The drive unit is also quiet. Starting a cold engine in the morning will not wake up all the neighbors at the campsite. The suspension selects unevenness well, the motorhome flows, even on Polish roads. In conjunction with the quiet bodywork (about which in a moment) we get a vehicle that can be easily overcome even several hundred kilometers in comfortable conditions. There is no question of getting tired during vehicles, e.g. on Austrian mountain trails.

The housing itself is a real masterpiece, in which it is difficult to find something that would be particularly irritating during everyday use. The vehicle is 7.19 m long and 2.92 m high. These are ideal values "in between" - we have a lot of space inside and maneuvering the motorhome on narrow camping alleys is not problematic. A wide-angle and color rear view camera is helpful, but even so, when maneuvering difficult, it is worth using a third party - this is our good advice, especially for those who are just starting their adventure with a motorhome.

Where do you sleep here?

The floor layout on the Chausson 720 Titanium is something absolutely spectacular. We can get to the residential part either through the cab (this one, by the way, is very well equipped with, among others , a multimedia station) or through the side entrance door. These are XL size, 60 cm wide, and really make it easier to get in and out on a daily basis. This solution is also useful when packing and passing on, for example, child seats. We do not hook anything, we do not destroy anything. A plus.

Upon entering, we guarantee you will be surprised by the space available. The salon is designed in a "face-to-face" style, so each of the 5-person crew can see each other. In the middle there is a fold-out table, which will serve as a place to eat meals, but also as a decent table top for various board games when it rains outside the window. On fold-out sofas, we can easily stretch, pick up a book and spend many afternoons in this way. Large windows, both the side ones and even those located in the roof of the cab, allow quite a lot of sunlight to get inside. In this way, with light upholstery, the feeling of space is even more pronounced. Great job, gentlemen French.

The large living room did not affect the size of the kitchenette. A gas stove with easy access, a sink, lots of cabinets and drawers, and a special extension that enlarges the working space - what more could you want? On the other side of the vehicle you will find a 134-liter refrigerator operating on electricity of 12, 230V or gas.

The best of this model can be found at the rear. Classic bedroom, king size bed or two single beds that can be joined together? No, definitely not in Chausson. The French created here two-story sleeping places arranged along the entire width of the vehicle. An adult person with a height of over 180 cm will fit here without any problems, let alone children (ultimately, both beds are for them). Both places can be adjusted in terms of height. In this way, while driving, we can enlarge (significantly!) The available cargo space in the garage.

Thanks to such an unusual bedroom in the back of the motorhome, it was possible to find a lot of space. And so we have a full-size, separate shower cubicle with beautiful blue illumination available. On the other side you will find a toilet with a sink, mirror and a lot of space for additional "junk". A wardrobe is a solution that will be appreciated especially by families with children. Let's put it straight: it is huge! It will easily accommodate clothes for all travelers, even for a 2-3 week trip. Importantly, everything is then in one place. There is no tedious packing process and then, on the way, searching for "what is what is what". We know that, right? This problem does not occur here.

Okay, but are the two bunk beds in the back all that? Where do my parents sleep? You have at your disposal a large double bed that is lowered electrically with a single button. There is no need to make any changes to the layout of the living room. Do we want to sleep? One button, a few seconds and the bed is ready. From the living room itself, we can create one more place to sleep and in this way all five people will find their place.

It is in this arrangement that the extraordinary versatility of the motorhome is hidden. We can regulate and change everything as needed. More luggage? No problem. We only travel the two of us? Here you are, the rear beds can then be a strictly "accessory" place. Rest? The XL lounge is waiting. Driving time and fitting child seats? It takes a few minutes to transform it. Easy, simple, fast.

Take only clothes and bedding

Already at the stage of the purchase itself, it was perfectly equipped. A wide awning, air conditioning or a bicycle rack is something that will be useful during every trip. However, the owner of the rental company said that it was not enough. The equipment includes accessories such as an electric grill, chairs and a table of good quality, a watering can, a water hose, a gray water tank, a floor to be placed under an awning, a power cord and extension cord, storm straps for the awning ... phew, there is a lot of it.

The fact is that when renting Chausson at jedziemykamperem.pl , we only have to take clothes and bedding. And now - we are fully prepared for the road. Before we start, however, we have training and presentation of all on-board devices. In this way, our stay will be not only comfortable, but also safe, without unnecessary stress. However, before you set off on a trip on your own, the owner of the rental company will take you for a dozen or so kilometers drive around the area to explain to you exactly how the larger vehicle behaves in corners and on roundabouts.
