First registrations of new and used motorhomes and trailers 2018-2024
The registration statistics for the last seven years are worth noting, as they show that a total of 14,726 new and used camper vans and trailers were registered for the first time in Poland, which is 2,067 more than in 2023, which is a record in the history of the industry.
Jakub Faryś, president of the Polish Automotive Industry Association, says: "The results of registration of new and used camping vehicles in 2024 can be considered good. New camping vehicles recorded an almost 26% increase, while used ones - almost 40%. This shows that
that, unlike passenger cars, customers value new camping vehicles and it can even be argued that comparable numbers of new and used ones are being registered. However, the number of buyers of both new and used camping trailers is decreasing. In this case, the increases amounted to over 4% - in the case of new trailers and less than 10% - in the case of used ones. If we compare the number of new camping vehicles to the number of new trailers registered, it is clear that there are more than twice as many cars. This indicates that if buyers decide to spend their free time in a form of caravanning - they are more willing to choose a car than a trailer.”
Sebastian Klauz, vice president of PGC, publisher of Polski Caravaning magazine, says: "The annual results are consistent with those presented in previous quarters. We recently presented statistics from the Belgian market on the polskicaravaning.pl portal. It turns out after some time that it is similar here. The dynamics of the growth in registrations of new campers at the level of 25.8% year-on-year should be pleasing, although we are noting greater increases in registrations of used models (+38.2%).
The market is giving a clear signal that prices are expected to drop, as society is constantly looking for a cheaper alternative in the form of used vehicles abroad. We are also observing a great interest in mid-range and low-end vehicles. For a long time, the Benimar brand has been defending its second position and it seems unthreatened for now. This year's curiosity in the ranking is the Capron Group, which includes vehicles from the Sunlight, Carado and Etrusco brands. This year, it has introduced as many as 108 new campers to our market. If we add to this the results of the Rimor, McLuis, CI and Roller Team brands, their sales confirm the above trend.
The second trend is a much smaller increase in trailer registrations. Of course, the volume (totalling 11,672 units) is greater than in campers, but the increases are definitely decreasing. A foreign trailer is Hobby, and a domestic one is Niewiadów - this is how it is perceived by most beginner caravan enthusiasts. Of course, we are aware that there are many manufacturers, but the leaders in the registration tables leave no doubt. The popularity of these brands is not decreasing. Caravan owners have an increasingly difficult task with choosing a new tow truck. Stricter exhaust emission standards significantly limit the towing capacity of new cars, which undoubtedly has an impact on the decrease in the popularity of trailers.
An optimistic summary is the total number of all caravan vehicles introduced to the market at the level of 14,726 units. ”
