ViaAUTO is a system analogous to ViaTOLL, but intended for passenger cars. Thanks to the ongoing promotion and the designation of special lanes for users, after two years of low interest in the system, queues began to form for the device.
ViaAUTO and ViaTOLL systems combine the possibility of making electronic payments for tolls on the motorway. In the case of Via AUTO, the device must first be topped up or transferred to the associated account, so that later you can pass through the toll plazas without stopping. We don't waste time standing in traffic jams, taking out the wallet, picking up the change or accepting a credit card. It's simple and convenient - at least in theory.
In practice , the system so far applies only to sections of the A2 and A4 motorways managed by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways . In the future, Via AUTO is also to operate on the motorways of private operators, but sooner either all operators would have to agree with each other, or the necessary changes would have to be enforced by regulations. The current government declares its intention to popularize electronic payments on motorways, but… we will recognize them by their actions.
From July 15 to the end of the summer holidays, a promotion is running on the highways covered by the ViaAUTO system, thanks to which the device necessary for calculating payments can be purchased for PLN 100, of which PLN 50 is the first charge. As a result , the customer receives ViaAUTO for PLN 50, plus a PLN 50 top-up . In addition to the promotion, the device itself costs 135 PLN.
The beginning of the promotion coincided with the separation of special lanes for handling electronic payments. They were established in the vicinity of Konin and Stryków (A2 motorway) as well as Gliwice and Wrocław (A4 motorway). In addition to lanes for trucks using the viaTOLL system, there are lanes for passenger cars . Drivers do not have to stop, only slow down to 20 km / h.
As a result of this change, the capacity on the lanes designated for viaAUTO users is to increase from 120 to 280 cars per hour.
The appearance of the belts and the introduction of a price promotion resulted in a sudden increase in interest in the ViaAuto system. Queues have started to line up at gas stations near the gates, and there are even stands dedicated to serving ViaAuto and ViaToll customers. In the first days of the shares, more than 2,000 were purchased. devices, and the total number of drivers paying electronically for highways has exceeded 10,000.
Importantly, the device supporting the ViaAuto system is not tied to a specific car , which means that it can be transferred between different cars. This solution will work both in families with several cars and, for example, in small businesses. ViaAUTO is mounted on the windshield of the vehicle.
Unfortunately, you cannot receive an invoice for the fees charged by ViaAUTO. The problem is also checking the current charging status of the device. This is only possible via the hotline. More information is available directly on the ViaToll website.
