History and corals

Along the entire coast of Alghero, which was ruled by Catalonia until the 18th century, there is a promenade, and right next to it a bicycle path leading to the Capo Caccia peninsula, located approx. 10 km outside the city. Many beautiful monuments can be admired directly from these routes or possibly reflected in picturesque streets.

In Alghero itself, you must see the old town , where there are fortresses, such as gunpowder towers, defense and observation towers, Columbus Bastion or Marco Polo Bastion. In addition, you can wander along the charming little streets, visiting shops and restaurants.

There is a reason why Alghero's coast is called the Coral Coast (Riviera del Corallo). The waters around Alghero abound with noble coral , considered one of the best in the world. The coral processing craft has reached excellence here. In the 1950s, the Coral Craft School was established in the city, dealing with the preparation and training of artists. Works made of this beautiful raw material can be admired in the Coral Museum , located in the beautiful Villa Costantino.

Sea and beaches

The sea is the soul of the city. Along the 90-kilometer coast of Alghero you will find sandy, white and golden beaches and small coves set against a unique landscape. Many of them, such as Bombarde, Lazaretto, Porto Conte and Capo Caccia, can be easily reached from the campsite by car, bike or simply on foot, along paths immersed in typical Mediterranean vegetation.
