The magic of light and Christmas

The earliest, on November 15, begins the Christmas market in Arco, in the municipality of Alto Garda e Ledro, which will last until January 6. During this time, among dozens of aromatic delicacies and stalls with Christmas varieties, you will be able to experience the true magic of Christmas, which will be brought about by the third edition of the Fairytale Light Show. A modern light show is an opportunity to learn about the legendary history of the town. The fairy-tale spectacle about love, dragons, fairies and spells can be admired from December 26 to January 6, on the facade of the local town hall.

The charm of the historic Christmas

For those looking for genuine traditional Christmas customs, head to the medieval village of Canale di Tenno on Lake Garda in Trentino. Historic buildings give this tiny town an unprecedented charm. Narrow streets, which rise laboriously to drop immediately according to the topography and wind among the tightly built stone houses, create a unique atmosphere of this place.

In this original setting, every Saturday and Sunday from November 23 to December 15, from 9:30 to 18:30, there will be a Christmas market with the participation of local artisans. The weekend fair is also an opportunity to learn about the recipes of traditional cuisine and taste regional products, both those on the stalls and those with the tempting aromas of the dishes of the old tavern. Visitors on holidays in Trentino can also look forward to activities in the Canale. On December 26, from 2 p.m., you will be able to visit a live nativity scene there and join traditional carol singing to the sounds of bagpipes.

Christmas town

One of the largest and most appreciated is the Trento Christmas market. The reputation and the twenty-six-year-old tradition attract more and more visitors and sellers. During this year's edition, there will be as many as 90 stands in two historic squares in the city center - Piazza Fiera and Piazza Cesare Battisti. Top-quality local crafts, regional delicacies and delicious wines, led by the local spumante, are the hallmarks of the fair in the capital of Trentino and the Alpine tradition. Here you can buy original products, such as: cheeses, salami, jams, various additives, as well as 20 types of beer produced in Trentino. The fair will run from November 23, 2019 to January 6, 2020 and will be open from Sunday to Thursday from 10 am to 7.30 pm and on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 am to 8.30 pm. Exceptionally, on Saturday, December 14 and Saturday, January 4, the market will be open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and on December 26, 2019, and on January 1 and 6, 2020, from 10 a.m. to 7.30 p.m.

Christmas markets are held in many parts of Trentino and have become a part of the region's tradition. The Christmas markets filled with carved figurines and handmade toys become the centers of life and culture for the local community and tourists in the period before, during and after Christmas. A visit to wooden stalls decorated with fragrant fir and tempting aromas of Christmas cakes or mulled wine is a must-see on the route of excursions and walks around the towns of Trentino.

People who like variety will fall in love with Trentino Alto Adige. It is a region in the north-eastern part of Italy, bordering two other Italian regions and two countries: Austria and Switzerland. Its location translates into a huge number of tourist attractions and a varied cuisine, richly drawing on the influence of its neighbors. If Italy, especially Trento, then polenta. It is usually served baked (smacafam), with bacon or sausage. Cheeses are an important element of the local cuisine, produced in most alpine valleys and chapels. Those interested in new flavors should try the mild Pustertaler, the spicy Graukäse, and if they like goat's milk products, then also the Ziegenkäse. When someone plans a vacation in Italy in terms of culinary experiences, they will quickly find out that Trentino-South Tyrol is the perfect destination for gourmands. The region is famous for apples, which are a frequent ingredient of dishes. It is worth getting to know the taste of the local strudels and the so-called Apfelküchel, pancakes a bit like donuts and a little pancakes. Local soups are nutritious, thick and difficult to digest - with a base of pork, potatoes or tripe. Meat is eaten a lot, ranging from poultry, through beef and venison, to trout and rabbit. Alto Adige boasts Speck dell'Alto Adige , a pork belly on the bone, dried and smoked in small artisanal factories in the Venosta Valley. It is protected by the IGP mark, and in regional restaurants it is served as a snack or appetizer, with dark bread or rice bread. When talking about the kitchen, the wine must not be forgotten. Red wines predominate in the region, but the most famous are white wines, including Sylvaner, Müller Thurgau and Gewürztraminer. They are distinguished by an unusual aroma and lightness.
