Active silencing - how to do it in Trentino?
Winter holidays in the mountains are not necessarily only traditional skiing on the slopes. In the vicinity of the slopes, nature lovers and snow-capped peaks await forests shrouded in deep silence. Below we present a few suggestions for those who would like to actively relax in the picturesque Italian Trentino.
On the route from dawn to dusk
From January to March 2020, TrentinoSkiSunrise invites skiing enthusiasts to ride at dawn on the empty and freshly groomed pistes. Of course, the morning adventure begins with a nutritious breakfast, prepared from the highest quality local products by experienced chefs. After such a great start, it is the turn to take a breathtaking, brisk descent.
To take part in this unique event, all you need to do is choose one of the numerous offers available in all major ski areas of Trentino. A constantly expanding list of events is available on the Internet ( www.visittrentino.info ).
Full relaxation on cross-country skiing
Imagine the silence in the forest, the intense blue of the sky and the sparkling white of the snow, all in the enchanting surroundings of the Dolomites. Cross-country skiing is an ideal activity for those who want to enjoy the winter without rush, immerse themselves in silent nature, breathe deeply and find their natural rhythm. The Italian region of Trentino is a great place to practice this discipline. It offers runs suitable for everyone - from beginners to seasoned experts.
Trentino is a "cross country" paradise, not only because of the beauty of nature, but also the great facilities and services offered to lovers of this discipline. It is no coincidence that Trentino hosted the World Championships three times, dozens of stages of the World Cup, Tour de Ski and the famous Marcialonga. The integrated SuperNordicSkipass system provides access to 16 ski areas and the use of special services and amenities, ski schools, places where you can relax and lubricate your skis, not to mention always perfectly maintained and well-snowed runs.
Rich routes of Trentino
There are many routes entirely located throughout Trentino. In Val di Fiemme, the Marcialonga trail is a must. This 27 km long trail runs through forests and snow-covered meadows, linking Predazzo and Molina di Fiemme.
The Gervasi Route is a real treasure of the region, located just a few kilometers from Trento, on the Viote del Monte Bondone plateau - from the eight-kilometer route you can admire the Brenta Dolomites in all its glory and even Lagorai and Pale di San Martino.
Anyone who dreams of immersing themselves in the beauty of the Parco Naturale Adamello Brenta nature park should go to the Campo Carlo Magno pass, near Madonna di Campiglio. On the ten-kilometer route, skiers can admire the majestic shape of the Dolomites as soon as they leave the forest. Following the snow-covered meadows, you reach the mountain chalet of Malga Mondifrà.
The 15-kilometer Pista Passo Coe trail in the Cymbry Alps is difficult and demanding, but it provides a lot of excitement. It's best to start your ride in the morning and enjoy the ascents and descents that pass right past mountain huts, fir forests, and the old border stones of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It is not far from here to the 12 km long Pista Lavarone trail in Millegrobbe, along which you will find charming mountain huts covered with fresh snow.
Snowy landscapes
In winter, the Trentino region surprises its visitors with every step. Just put on snowshoes and go hiking along the trails and forest roads to discover the richness of this region: mountain huts, vast clearings and unique views.
The three parks of Trentino are ideal for snowshoe walks: Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino, Adamello Brenta and Parco nazionale dello Stelvio. During the trip, you can find out that, contrary to what it seems, the nature, wrapped in white snow, does not sleep, as evidenced by the numerous traces of animals left in the snow along the trails.
Let's Dolomites - companions for winter adventures
In the company of the Guide Alpine del Trentino, adventures in the snow, in direct contact with nature, are real fun. As part of the Let's Dolomites project, which brings together professional guides in these mountains, the offer of the proposed activities is extremely rich: snowshoeing trips, ski mountaineering, icefall climbing. You can choose from one-day trips or more serious, multi-day trekking trips on snowshoes or on ski mountaineering skis, which provide for the transition from one shelter to another.
Tours are available to anyone who is in good shape and has undergone at least minimal training. During the trip or after reaching the shelter, the guides will provide advice and explain the basic issues in the field of snow science, safety, reading topographic maps and the correct use of auto-rescue equipment.
