In winter in a camper at Camping Solden
A landscape-loving tourist may find it difficult to say unequivocally which season is more favorable to the alpine valleys . But winter sports fans have no such doubts. To find out, visit the Ötztal in Tyrol, for example. The Austrian valley is 65 km long and its main winter attractions include the Sölden ski area. Besieged by crowds of skiers, snowboarders and cross-country skiers , it is teeming with life as much, and sometimes more than the capital of Austria. Right next to the valley station of the mountain railway Bergahnen Sölden there is a campsite, which aims to provide guests with truly hotel conditions.
A caravanning holiday in Sölden
The resort is approx. 945 km away from the border crossing with Slovakia Chyżne - Trstena. After reaching Camping Solden , vacationers can settle down on one of the plots spread over a total area of 1.3 hectares. There are about 90 of them here, each of which has a sewage connection (frost-resistant) and a power supply of 10-16 amps. Standard pitches range in size from 50m² to 60m², 19 Comfort pitches are 70-85m² and 6 are Premium pitches (100m²). Guests receive free Wi-Fi access and cable TV with over 300 channels. There is a fresh water connection on the Comfort and Premium lots .
The vacationers have enough space for themselves to feel comfortable. Caravanners have at their disposal a fully automatic cleaning station for mobile chemical toilets . A modern system adjusts the cleaning intensity to the degree of soiling.
People who arrive by car can leave it in one of the free outdoor parking spaces or in the underground car park (€ 5 per night). Monitored parking in the basement is one of the new features of the campsite. Thanks to it, from 2020, the property provides guests with a stay in a car-free zone.
The restaurants Gasthof Grauer Bär and Bäckelar Wirt are right next to the campground. About 80 meters from the property there is a bakery where you can always get fresh bread or rolls.
Active recreation on alpine slopes
The location in the very center of the ski paradise attracts skiing enthusiasts to the camping. The property is approximately 1,400 meters above sea level and only 200 meters from the Gaislachkogl Gondola. It can be reached on foot in a few minutes. At the destination, there are numerous (over 30) peaks and less than 150 km of ski slopes stretched at an altitude of 1,360-3300 m above sea level. The glacier runs connect directly to the rest of the ski area by lifts, so it's easy to see why so many people consider the resort a skier's paradise. How little where there is a guarantee of snow and alpine skiing here.
Currently, the offer of lifts is limited (up to 3, Gaislachkogl). For this reason, in the winter season 2020/2021, skiers are offered daily passes at promotional prices (until further notice). They cost € 35.00 for adults, € 27.50 for teenagers and € 18.50 for children. You can buy them every day at the kiosk on the Gaislachkoglbahn or on weekends on the Giggijochbahn. Points are open from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.
There are also toboggan runs - currently 2: Stallwiesalm and Soelden Gaislachkogl . The second is a newly built, illuminated track leading from the middle station of the lift to Sölden. Due to its length (7.3 km), it is one of the longest in Austria. The simplicity of the route makes the track ideal for less experienced people, as well as for families with children. A one-day ticket for adults for the tracks costs € 31.00, and for children € 16.00.
Winter camping in the heart of the Austrian Alps
The camping offers plenty of amenities for winter sports enthusiasts, including a ski storage room , where things will not only be safe (monitoring). The room has specially adapted drying rooms and an advanced drying system for ski boots . If you do not have your own skis and would like to ski on the slope, you can easily rent equipment on the premises.
After a day in the fresh air, it is worth going to the wellness area . Guests can choose from, among others steam room, sauna or infrared cabin. Staying in the zone wonderfully relaxes, calms down and makes it easier to fall asleep.
For thousands of people, Sölden is one of the most wonderful places in Austria in general, and perhaps in the entire Alps. If you haven't been there yet, be sure to visit them!
