The May weekend in 2015 is not very long, which does not mean that we have to spend it at home. At a distance of about 245 km from Cieszyn, there is the charming Czech city of Břeclav, which is worth visiting at that time.

Brzecław is a great place for a picnic - sounds like an advertisement? A visit to it is an excellent idea, if only because it is called the gate to the Lednice-Valtice area, entered on the UNESCO list. During the trip, you can get acquainted with the cultural landscape abounding in unique places. They are not simply relics of the past, but architectural gems. The area is so attractive that it fully deserves a separate story.

The charms of Brzecław

Břeclav is situated on the river Dyje, near the border with Slovakia and Austria. It is about 50 km from Brno and walking along its western part, we will come across an imposing Renaissance castle . Another attraction of the city is the 19th-century synagogue, now used for cultural purposes. Lovers of sacred monuments should also visit the Church of St. Wenceslas standing on Masaryk Square, the chapel of St. Cyril and Methodius, the chapel of the Resurrection, and the Jewish cemetery.

The city organizes numerous cultural events. During the picnic, you can participate in the solemn start of the tourist season , which is initiated by the bicycle rally along the paths of the Lichtenstein family. In June, the Moravský den (Moravian Festival) takes place, during which the most important historical scenes are played out in the surrounding meadows. In turn, in September, residents celebrate the feast of St. Wenceslas, during which a colorful procession goes through the city. It is a great opportunity to see performances of folk groups in regional costumes.

Relax in the water park - Aqualand Moravia

There is one more place waiting for tourists visiting the region, which guarantees a lot of experience. This is Aqualand Moravia , located in Pasohlávky, approx. 20 km from Brno. The Romans bathed in the local geothermal waters - on the basis of the finds, it was established that the first baths were built during the reign of Marcus Aurelius. Today, they are home to the most modern entertainment center in Central Europe. Aqualand Moravia is open all year round, tempting visitors with 7 swimming pools, 12 water slides and slides.
