France is famous for its wonderful monuments, interesting history and delicious food. The country has been divided into departments since the French Revolution. There is a beautiful region in the west of France with five picturesque departments. This is the Pays de la Loire. Its capital is the historic city of Nantes on the Loire River.

The Pays de la Loire has numerous historic towns , the Brière Regional Park with a unique marsh-agricultural landscape near the mouth of the Loire, the Oriental Park devoted to the culture and garden art of the Far East (Thailand, Cambodia and China), and the Atlantic coast. The Atlantic Loire includes attractive seaside tourist destinations, incl. Le Sables d 'Olonne , La Tranche sur Mer and Saint Jean de Monts .

The most beautiful cities in the Pays de la Loire

Nantes - the capital of the region - is also one of the most beautiful cities in the Pays de la Loire. The village was founded around 70 BC by the Celts. This is where Jules Verne was born and worked. Nantes is a place full of castles , mansions, churches, gardens and greenery. In this city, it is worth seeing, above all, the Gothic temple - the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul , the Renaissance Castle of the Dukes of Brittany, and Place de Royale , home to many 18th-century houses.

Another amazing city in the Pays de la Loire is Angers . Its origins date back to the 10th century, when the first stronghold was erected, which later became the seat of the Andrei dukes . In the city, it is worth strolling along the charming, historic streets, seeing the monumental St. Maurice from the turn of the 12th and 13th centuries, see the 13th-century church of St. Sergius, the bishop's palace, and the 12th-century hospital of St. John , which now houses an archaeological museum.

From Angers, you can conveniently reach Le Mans , a city founded in ancient times, via the motorway. Only a small part of the charming old town - Cité Plantagenet - has survived to this day. The most valuable monument of this place is the monumental Romanesque-Gothic Cathedral of St. Juliana (Cathédrale St-Julien). In Le Mans, visit the 13th-century collegiate church of St. Peter, the magnificent Renaissance Palais du Grabatoire , currently the seat of the Episcopate, and the former Cistercian monastery ( Abbaye de l'Épau ) on the outskirts of the city.

When visiting the monuments of the Pays de la Loire, you should also go to Cholet , famous primarily for the battle of the French Revolution, which took place there in 1793 and ended with the victory of the republican forces.

Lovers of seaside climates should visit one of the resorts located on the Atlantic Sea. It is worth seeing Saint Jean de Monts , which is primarily a tourist town, but there are also many interesting monuments, including 14th-century church, sculptures by Jean-Louis Toutain and the college built by Napoleon.

Campéole les Sirènes

If you get tired of visiting the historic towns and villages of the Pays de la Loire, it is worth relaxing for a few days in the amazing Campéole les Sirènes . The resort is located approximately 700 m from the sea, in a landscaped forest, near the village of Saint Jean de Monts .

This parc provides comfortable, fully equipped holiday homes with air conditioning, kitchenette, bathroom and a comfortable patio. Within the resort, in the shade of trees, there are plots with sanitary and electricity connections.

Campéole les Sirènes is a child-friendly place. Children have a playground at their disposal, a mini club with animators, a swimming pool with slides , and there are also sports competitions.

At this seaside campground, fans of not only water sports will feel great, but also enthusiasts of bicycle trips (there are numerous routes), jogging, football games, and even archery. You can swim there not only in the nearby sea, but also in the heated pool located within the resort (a paddling pool is available for children). The campsite trainers organize aqua aerobics every day.

Italy, Croatia, Spain ... are the countries I would like to come back to every summer. I like to discover new places, whether it is a bustling capital city or a quiet town on a mountain slope.
