Venice from the deck of a gondola
Wenecja to niezwykłe miasto, w większości położone na wodzie. Jego poszczególne dzielnice usytuowane są na ponad 118 wyspach, ale miasto posiada także część lądową z dzielnicami handlowymi i przemysłowymi - to m.in. Mestre i Marghera. Wenecję można zwiedzać pieszo, ale najwygodniej poruszać się gondolą lub tramwajem wodnym. Cechą charakterystyczną Wenecji, a jednocześnie jej największym walorem, jest brak zatłoczonych ulic. Komunikacja miejska odbywa się tam drogą wodną, stworzoną z sieci 150 kanałów. Główne arterie tworzą: Canal Grande, Canale di Cannaregio i Canale della Giudecca. Brzegi kanałów łączy 400 mostów. Obecnie większość z nich jest murowana, zachowało się tylko kilka drewnianych , m.in. Ponte di San Pietro di Castello, Ponte di'TAbbazia delia Misericordia i Ponte di San Alvise. Uliczki weneckie są zazwyczaj bardzo wąskie, kręte, długie i ciemne.

Punktem orientacyjnym dla każdej osoby odwiedzającej Rzym jest przepływająca przez stolicę Włoch rzeka Tyber. Dzieli ona Wieczne Miasto na dwie części. Po zachodniej stronie znajduje się historyczne centrum i siedem wzgórz, natomiast wschodnia strona to takie zabytki jak Koloseum czy ruiny pałaców na wzgórzu Palatyn. Rzym to miejsce niezwykłe, uwielbiane przez turystów, tętniące życiem, pełne ogrodów i parków.

Lacjum to malowniczy region Włoch, który słynie przede wszystkim z pięknych wzgórz, gajów oliwnych i winnic. Sercem Lacjum jest Rzym - miasto położone na siedmiu wzgórzach. Awentyn, Caelius, Eskwilin, Kwirynał, Palatyn, Wiminał i Kapitol stanowią fundamenty miasta, a jednocześnie są jego symbolami. Okolica tych wzgórz idealnie nadaje się do wypoczynku. Wzgórza rzymskie znajdują się po wschodniej stronie Tybru. Pełniły ważną funkcję w polityce antycznego Rzymu, a także w jego religii i mitologii. Największy obszar zajmuje wzgórze Eskwilin, najwyższy jest Kwirynał, a najbardziej zielony - Awentyn. Najmniejszy, a jednocześnie najważniejszy dla Rzymu jest Kapitol. Tam w starożytności znajdowały się świątynie Jowisza, Minerwy i Junony. Warto poznać bliżej te wzgórza, zwiedzając Rzym. Przy okazji niedaleko nich można znaleźć bardzo komfortowe zakwaterowanie.
