In northern Italy, Lago di Garda is the country's largest lake. At the same time, it boasts the highest level of cleanliness - in this respect, no other Italian tank can match it. Thanks to its location in the picturesque and sunny mountains and the color of the water, reminiscent of the Adriatic Sea, it also wins beauty contests. Another of the many advantages of the region is the kindness and hospitality of local residents. The icing on the cake is a very friendly atmosphere, providing ideal conditions for holiday tourism. No wonder that, with so many advantages, no other Italian lake can compete with Lake Garda.

The lake is admired from a bird's eye view

One of the many attractions that you can find while on the Garda is the cable car ride to Monte Baldo. It starts in a town on the northeast shore of Malcesine . It takes about 10 minutes to reach the summit, after overcoming a height difference of 1670 meters. While driving the route with a length of about 4 kilometers, tourists have the opportunity to admire the lake from a unique perspective - the cable car, as one of the few in the world, turns around its axis. Upon reaching the summit, visitors will see a wonderful panorama of the Val d'Adige highlands to the east. The area of the Monte Baldo massif is covered with lush vegetation, hence it is called by many the Garden of Europe . It grows, among others honeysuckle, laurel and capers, as well as beautiful orchids. If you are planning a vacation in Italy , it is really worth taking a trip to this place.

What is hiding the west shore?

Garda is so big that it is difficult to get to know every local town and enjoy all the attractions during one stay. It is different when we decide to go on vacation in the "slow travel" mode. This will enable us to spend a great holiday, collect a lot of memories and ensure that your next holiday on Lake Garda will be just as, if not even more enjoyable. On the western shore is Salo , the largest town in this part of the lake, a center of significant importance to the region both as a resort and as a commercial center. In the 40s of the last century, it was the capital of the Italian Social Republic of Benito Mussolini - the Republic of Salo. This puppet capital was the last attempt to maintain fascism in Italy. The city was disgracefully used again, 30 years later. It served as the setting for Pasolini's scandalous film ( Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma ), telling the story of several dozen days of degenerate entertainment by four dignitaries of the republic. In fact, the pictures were shot in Pontemerlano, inside Villa Riesenfeld.

To the north of Salo, the summit of San Bartolomeo looms stately, a mountain that has seen many things and could tell a lot. Approx. 9 km separates the city from Toscolano-Maderno , a resort made of two mountain streams separated by nature with a ribbon. It has a marina and a sandy beach. There is a ferry from the car and passenger port to the eastern shore of the lake, to Torri del Benaco. Wandering further north, we will reach the town considered to be the most elegant of all on the lake. This is Riva del Garda , with a beautiful old part, boulevards along the shore and a well-kept beach.

Camping on Lake Garda

Camping Villaggio Weekend is located 1.5 km from Salo. Accommodation is waiting for tourists on spacious pitches with grassy ground, perfect for tents, the camp also offers pitches adapted to caravans and motorhomes. The municipality of San Felice del Benaco, in which it is located, is covered with olive groves and vineyards. It has nice pebble beaches with a star, advertised as one of the most beautiful beaches in Garda - Baia del Vento. Active recreation enthusiasts come in large numbers to this charming headland to practice canoeing, windsurfing and sailing. There is no doubt that your holiday in this part of the lake will be extremely successful.

Liguria - relaxation on the Italian Riviera
Liguria, a region in the northwest of Italy, is often referred to as the Italian Riviera. Lying in the Gulf of Genoa, on the Ligurian Sea, it stretches in a picturesque way between two mountain ranges - the Alps and the Apennines. The area owes its name to one of the oldest tribes in Italy - the Ligurians, who came to the country from North Africa. How to plan a visit to Liguria? What regional cuisine to try while traveling? We invite you to read!. The capital of the region is Genoa, the atmosphere of which you will feel best while walking between the densely dotted streets that make up the old town. Among them, it is worth visiting the Cathedral of San Lorenzo and the Church of Gesu, whose walls are decorated with paintings by Rubens. From Rafaelle de Ferrari Square stretches a new part of the city, filled with fashion salons and equally trendy cafes. When visiting Genoa , sooner or later you will reach a great port, where there is also an aquarium with several hundred interesting species of marine animals. Portofino should be an important point when traveling in Liguria . The town, situated in the Gulf of Golfi del Tigullio, stands out for its colorfully packed houses, creating a postcard-like view. Monte di Portofino, a peak belonging to the Regional Park, is also not far from here. The trip would not be complete without a visit to the Cinque Terre , which brings together five spectacular towns - Vernazza, Riomaggiore, Monterosso, Manarola and Corniglia. Situated on steep cliffs, connected by a winding mountain path, they form the Cinque Terre National Park. Each town is delighted with its unique location and atmospheric buildings - it is worth staying here for longer. Sanremo, made famous by the Italian Song Festival, is also located in the region. Its central point is Piazza Coloma, and the oldest district - La Pigna, full of local bars.
