Sanus per aquam in Termy Uniejów
In Uniejów, the Latin phrase "Sanus per aquam" ("Health through water") should be understood literally. Apart from the thermal swimming pool complex, the resort also tempts with contact with Indians and medieval knights.
In spring, Uniejów is visited by Indians who come to it for the POW-POW-POW-POW-POW-POW-POW-American Indian Music and Dance Festival, and in the summer, the Indian Summer is held here - the Festival of Aleja im. Sat-Okha. Those who prefer chain mail, helmets and swords instead of tomahawks and plumes, should come to Uniejów for the Knight's Tournament in July, and in August - to the Medieval Fair.
The power of Uniejów brine
However, the greatest treasure of the resort are not the regular events, but the healing waters. Their properties in 2012 brought the town the title of the first thermal spa in Poland .
The water flowing out of the three wells has a temperature of 68 ° C and gushes from a depth of over 2000 meters. Its healing effect is most effective in diseases of the larynx and nose, skin lesions, neurosis and neuralgia as well as rheumatoid arthritis. They are also appreciated by people with discopathies and after surgical procedures on the musculoskeletal system.
The internal bathing area consists of a saline and spa pool, a recreational pool for adults and a children's pool with a pirate ship. Outside - apart from swimming pools, there are also slides and paddling pools, an island with a jacuzzi, a wild river and a relaxing terrace. The Termalno-Basenowy complex is open all week from 10:00 to 22:00. Guests can also use the Wellness & SPA zone, restaurant, bowling alley and the Night Club.
Tourist attractions of Uniejów
In addition to the pools, the resort's attraction is the 14th-century Castle of the Archbishops of Gniezno . It blends beautifully with the landscape - both with meadows and the river, as well as with the park, creating a picturesque historical and natural complex. The castle is considered to be one of the most valuable monuments of the Lodz Region.
Tourists can get to know its interior during a longer stay - you can spend the night in the chambers. After renovation, 3 medieval apartments with the patronage of Polish kings (Kazimierz Jagiellończyk, Władysław Jagiełło and Kazimierz Wielki), 3 with eclectic interiors (rooms: Emerald, Golden and Ruby) and 15 rooms in a historic style were made available to guests.
In the vicinity of the castle there is the House of Creative Work . Its idea is the fruit of cooperation between the Uniejów Commune and the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. Future artists practice the use of a brush during open-air painting sessions, and then present their works at exhibitions and vernissages organized in the House.
What is the temptation of Zagroda Młynarska?
Another interesting place is the Zagroda Młynarska museum and accommodation complex. It consists of 5 historic buildings transferred from different parts of the voivodeship: a livestock building from Uniejów, two windmills (from Zbylczyce and Chorzepin), a manor house from Nagorek and a cottage from Skotniki with an oven for baking bread according to a traditional recipe. Tourists can buy bread at an affordable price.
A faithful replica of a barn from Besiekier was built in the area of Zagroda, where craft workshops are now organized devoted to flower making, wicker and pottery and, of course, blacksmithing. Folklore events also take place there. Visitors can see a collection of old carpentry and carpentry tools and antique horse-drawn vehicles.
Just like in the castle, you can spend the night in the Farm. Accommodation rooms for tourists are waiting in the manor house, as well as in the windmill from Chorzepin. In the second windmill (Zbylczyce), you can take part in the production of rye flour under the supervision of a curator.
There are stalls for horses in the livestock building. The guests of Zagroda Młynarska, who come here with their own mounts, have excellent conditions for horse recreation. The neighborhood is quiet, and the area on the Warta River - like the paintings of the Impressionists. It is a place for relaxation.
