Top 10 five-star campgrounds in France

France has probably the most 5-star campsites in Europe. It's very hard to choose the best ones, since there are so many cool ones. So we decided that the list would include those closest to Poland, although there are also a few facilities on the west coast. Remember, however, that this is just a drop in the ocean among the wonderful French campsites.

Les Tournels – Côte d'Azur, Ramatuelle

This campsite is located on a hill. You can choose whether to live with a view of the bay or vineyards. Camping Les Tournels has all swimming pools heated to 26-28°C from May to October, like most 5-star campsites in France. In addition to the recreational swimming pool, there is a water playground for children with figures peeing water, a river with an artificial stream, an imitation beach and slides. In addition, there is a wellness area only for adults, with a small outdoor and indoor swimming pool for everyone who wants to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the swimming pool.

In the town of Sainte-Maxime, approximately 25 km from the campsite, there is the Aqualand aqua park . There is a clique nearby, and the nearest one is 2 km away. You can reach it on foot, but I recommend taking your bikes.

The campsite runs its own vineyard. Once a week, a visit to the vineyards and wine tasting is organized.

Domaine du Colombier - Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Fréjus

The entire campsite is simply beautiful: wooden platforms, numerous terraced swimming pools, and lots of greenery around. In addition, from these terraces you can admire the view of the bay of Fréjus Saint-Raphaël. Camping Domaine du Colombier also has a 5-star aqua park. The pools are heated , there are several slides and a water river. There is, of course, also a shallow swimming pool for children with attractions such as water-squirting animals.

The Aqualand aqua park is only 5 km from the campsite. There is a beach at a similar distance.

Lou Pignada– Aquitaine, Ondres

It is located about 1.5 km from the beach , which can be reached by an organized bus from the campsite. Of course, all swimming pools at the campsite are heated and the water temperature ranges from 25°C to 28°C. The swimming pools are open from April until the end of September. The water park consists of 6 swimming pools, including 2 paddling pools and 3 slides. In addition, there is a SPA and wellness

The campsite has its own animation program, actually two: one for small children from 5 to 12 years old and the other for teenagers. Children will also love the mini farm. In the evenings you can listen to live concerts , watch shows on stage, and also have a mini disco. The campsite offers the possibility of purchasing HB and FB meals .

Camping Beach Garden (Les Mediterranees) – Languedoc-Roussillon, Marseillan-Plage

The campsite is located on the coast of France, approximately 70 km from Montpellier. It has direct access to the beach , where you can relax, play beach volleyball, or go for a walk.

The campsite has indoor and outdoor swimming pools with slides. There are also paddling pools. The spa offers treatments such as a hammam, sauna, massages and manicures.

Ecolodge l'Etoile d'Argens

The Ecolodge l'Etoile d'Argens campsite is beautifully situated in the middle of the forest and has plenty of shade, but is not on the beach. There is a free large bus to it. It takes you 20 minutes to Escamandes Beach in St Aygulf. The beach bus runs from May to mid-October and departs every 45 minutes. There is also a nudist beach in Escamandes.

The campsite is open almost all year round except January, and the heated swimming pools are open from April to mid-October. There is a large and deep swimming pool (3m deep) and two smaller, 2 jacuzzis - all of them are heated. There are Aqualand and Luna Park aqua parks nearby. The campsite has its own mini club, which is open from Easter, and in the high season, as many as 4 clubs with age divisions are open, including one for teenagers.

The campsite is pet-friendly .

The nearest train station in Fréjus is 4 km away.

La Sirene – Occitanie, Argelès-sur-mer

Camping La Sirene has the largest water park in the region. The campsite has an area of over 10,000 m², of which 2,000 m² is the swimming pool area. Small children will love the heated, covered swimming pool with small slides, climbing areas and gentle water lagoons. Older people will definitely love the giant slides . They are available to children over 10 years of age and over 1.20m tall. The campsite has a recreational swimming pool with heated water, where you can try aqua-aerobics, Zumba lessons or even sign up for a diving course for beginners.

Approximately 40 km from the campsite in Leucate is the Aqualand water park . The beach is approximately 900 m from the campsite.

Les Cirques de Porteils – Occitanie, Argelès-sur-Mer

This campsite is open from March 28 to October 24 and is located almost on the border with Spain. It is surrounded by the sea on one side and the Collioure hills and the Alberes mountains on the other. Many plots and cottages have a sea view . The campsite is located on a rock right next to the beach, accessed via stairs. The coast here consists of many small, cozy bays. Dogs are also welcome on the beach.

The campsite offers organized sports activities, trekking and SUP classes, but does not organize evening events. It's a very peaceful place. Daytime activities for children are organized only in high season, but there is a playground . The pools are heated throughout the campsite's opening period.

Camping Aloha – France, Occitanie, Sérignan Plage

Aloha Campground has a large swimming pool complex with water slides. Several of them are built on a hill, which makes it quite an unusual place among other campsites. You will definitely need inflatable sliding wheels here. Once a week, the animators organize a slide race, during which the king and queen of the slide are chosen! As if that wasn't enough, about 30 km from the campsite there is the Aqualand Cap D'Agde aqua park .

A sandy beach with gently shelving beach is about 300 m from the campsite. The beach is guarded from June 15 to September 15.

Camping Resort & Spa Sylvamar – France, New Aquitaine Labenne

Camping Sylvamar is located on the west coast of France, and the nearest beach by the ocean is about 3 km away. The campsite covers an area of 25 hectares. The campsite has two heated swimming pools, a wild river in which it is best to swim in pontoons, and slides, but note that in 2020, two additional brand new slides will be built! The little ones will definitely love the indoor water playground. In the same town as the camping there is the Aquatic Landes aqua park. The nearby town of Capbreton is a short walk from the campsite.

Sanguinet Plage (Sandaya) – Aquitaine, Sanguinet

The campsite is located on the west coast of France close to the famous Arcachon Bay on Lake Sanguinet. The nearest beach by the ocean is about 20 km away, but the campsite has its own beach on the lake, which is perfect for SUP riding and sailing.

It is open from April to the end of September. The campsite has an aqua park with heated swimming pools, and nearby is the Biscarrosse aqua park. The campsite runs animations for children.
