The finished products go to the local market and are exported outside Italy, thanks to which their bouquet can be appreciated by gourmets around the world.
The winemaking process in the Veneto region dates back to ancient times, and today the farmland covers over 80,000. ha. Annually, nearly one billion liters of this drink is poured here, which makes Veneto the leader on the domestic market. The production is dominated by white wine, about 70% of which is produced. The most popular and recognizable brands include Prosecco , Bardolino , Amarone and Recioto.
Veneto wine owes its class and taste to fertile soils and the local microclimate. The most famous vineyards are, among others near Lake Garda. The local soils are of high quality. Other famous vineyards are located in the Valpolicella region, in the commune of Soave, and also near Padua.
Types of Veneto wines
Sparkling Prosecco is undoubtedly the most popular wine of the region. This liquor is produced in stainless steel tanks, the so-called the Italian method. It is characterized, inter alia, by long fermentation period. One of the biggest advantages of Prosecco is its excellent value for money - relatively low cost per bottle.
Among the white wines, the most famous wines in the region are Soave, Bianco di Custoza and Lugana. Amarone reigns supreme among the red ones. The drink is produced in the vicinity of Lake Garda , near Verona. Other very popular wines from Veneto are Valpolicella and Bardolino. The latter is one of the most popular wines in Italy. They are distinguished by a great, light taste that perfectly matches local dishes.
Veneto can also boast of delicious rosé wines , appreciated by gourmets for their aroma and taste. They are extremely refreshing, and the most popular are Moscato Fiori d'Arancio and pink Bardolino . The most popular sweet drinks are Recioto di Soave, Breganze Torcolato and Moscato Fiori d'Arancio.
A glass of wine with the dish
Typically Italian dishes (of course, not only such) are best eaten accompanied by an appropriate wine. There are plenty of online guides such as "which wine to go with", but the general guidelines are quite clear. Red wine goes perfectly with red sauce, while white wine goes well with a glass of white wine. Boiled or baked fish taste delicious with light wine , while baked fish can be washed down with dry white. If we finish our dinner with dessert, it is worth ordering a glass of sweet or even liqueur wine.
We should remember that these are not iron rules, for breaking which we risk the disgusted expression of the waiter. Fortunately, those times are long gone. If we only want to experiment with the flavors, we can easily combine white wine with venison or red wine with an exquisite seafood dish.
