One of the unpleasant duties of every globetrotter is of course ... keeping order in a small area. When traveling with a pet or with children, we can often feel like in the heart of the cyclone. No thing has its permanent place, the table after a meal looks like a mess, the upholstery cannot accept any more crumbs, and a layer of dust and dirt of unknown origin builds up on the floor and shelves.

Taking a home, traditional vacuum cleaner with you due to the dimensions is not an option, and small vacuum cleaners powered from a 12V socket do not have enough power and cable range. And here they come into action - our today's heroes ... Ladies and Gentlemen, in front of you are two models of vertical vacuum cleaners signed by the legendary brand, which makes the hearts of both home DIY fans and professionals beat the heart. Makita, because we are talking about it, has been synonymous with quality and innovation for many years, there is no doubt about it.

Models DCL280 and DCL282 are handy and practical devices powered by high-performance 18V batteries with intelligent electronics. The great news is that both products are part of a wide range of devices powered by the same type of battery - from screwdrivers, through jigsaws, to portable radios. They will be a great choice for every motorhome or caravan owner.

In the case of both of the above-mentioned models, we can use batteries with a capacity of 1.5 to 6 Ah (DCL280 from 1.3 Ah). Depending on the capacity, we must take into account not only the higher weight of the whole sets, but also the price. But more on that in a moment.

Makita DCL280 - an economical strongman

Equipped with a brushless motor, the vacuum cleaner has a suction power of 45W and a pressure of 6.4 kPa. At first glance, this may not tell us much, but these parameters are sufficient for intensive cleaning of carpets and upholstery. The capacity of the dust container is 750 ml, which is a decent result for this class of products. Importantly, the device does not require the use of dedicated bags - therefore emptying it is simple and quick.

The total length is less than 102 cm, and the weight, depending on the battery, can be from 1.2 to 1.6 kg. The pipe is equipped with a snap securing it against accidental sliding out. When working with the BL1830 (3Ah) battery, the working time is approx. 20 minutes, which is enough to clean the motorhome.

A very useful function in vertical vacuum cleaners is LED illumination of the working space in front of the suction head - who has experienced it may never want to go back to a traditional vacuum cleaner. Especially in underexposed nooks and crannies, we can see literally everything. By the way, the LED lights also indicate the battery level.

The DCL282 also features a brushless motor and is an even more advanced brother of the DCL280. Nominally, it has less than 30% more power (8.2 kPa). Using the touch switch, we can choose one of 3 operating modes (15, 45 or 60W). The manufacturer's declared operating time when using the BL1860 (6 Ah) battery is 50, 20 or 15 minutes, respectively, for individual settings. The device works with textile (500 ml capacity) or paper (330 ml) bags. The weight of the device is 1.3-1.6 kg. Of course, LED lamps were used here as well, informing us about the state of the battery and illuminating the work surface.

How much is it?

The approximate price of Makita DCL280 is about PLN 370. In the case of the DCL282 model, we have to take into account the cost of over PLN 500. The devices are sold without batteries and chargers. Basic models of chargers cost less than PLN 200 and up, and batteries start from around PLN 260. For the largest sellers they want about PLN 400. So we have some freedom in terms of the configuration of the set and its price. In total, however, the prices do not differ significantly from the offers of vertical vacuum cleaners from recognized manufacturers. The main difference is that we will use Makita batteries for a wide range of devices. Makita has the best battery compatibility on the market. Products of other brands are usually batteries and chargers dedicated to a specific device.

Summary

One of the key criteria that we use when choosing caravanning accessories is weight and size - that's obvious. Fans of tools and gadgets with caravanning enthusiasts often search the depths of the Internet in search of new ideas and solutions that may turn out to be useful in pursuing their travel passion. There has been an abundance of these recently, after all, the industry is experiencing a real boom.

Observing the prices of strictly "caravanning" products, however, we often catch our heads. In addition, it is rarely possible to use many of them in everyday life (at home / garage) due to construction limitations or insufficient technical parameters.

By choosing the range of Makita cordless power tools , we can get rid of most of the traditional equipment at home and free ourselves from the wires. In the case of vacuum cleaners, the extensive range of accessories is also very impressive, which is not available in this segment by any other market competitor. Especially automotive fans who take care of their vehicles with meticulous care will be delighted. There is basically no nook and cranny that cannot be reached with any of the extras. The range includes over a dozen models of nozzles, nozzles and brushes, a flexible hose, a wall bracket and a cyclonic attachment (an ingenious solution for pre-separation of dust).

The 18V rechargeable batteries of the LXT series are compatible with more than 380 Makita power tools. The Japanese company is unrivaled in terms of the versatility of its machines and the systems used in them. The convenience of Makita system solutions cannot be overestimated. The excellent value for money as well as the legendary durability and strength of the components undoubtedly make the decision easier.
