Insure a used car!
An important issue when buying four wheels and during the use of a vehicle is insurance. What should we know about it and what should we pay attention to when choosing it?
Currently, Poles focus more on buying used vehicles than buying a new car straight from the showroom. The primary reason, of course, is finance. Not all of us can afford a new vehicle, and taking a loan does not make the whole thing easier, because not everyone likes to have such obligations. The purchase also includes additional insurance-related fees. The buyer of a used car with the subject of purchase takes over the current liability insurance and all obligations related to this issue. It is good practice for both the seller and the buyer to ensure that all formalities are completed to mutual benefit. The vehicle liability insurance must be handed over. This is the seller's primary responsibility. He must provide all documents that confirm the validity of the civil liability insurance, as well as proof that the fees have been paid for them. If we sell the vehicle, we must contact the insurer within 2 weeks of the buyer contract to report the change of ownership of the vehicle. From that moment on, the buyer takes over all the obligations related to the insurance. It also has the right to withdraw from the contract in favor of another one that better suits the needs of the buyer.
New or old insurance?
The person buying a used vehicle may or may not stay with the old insurer. However, if you decide not to change, it is also worth remembering that the insurance premium may be different than for the previous owner of the vehicle. It all depends on factors such as the amount of time spent behind the wheel or whether our previous drive was damage-free. It should also be remembered that the policy has its end date and if we plan to extend it, we must ensure this time, because it is not extended automatically. Insurers do not have to inform us about it, although it is good to choose one that comes with its own initiative, also regarding new offers. If you want to change your civil liability insurance policy, remember to conclude a contract with a new insurer before the end of the previous contract, because you can pay a high fine for an uninsured vehicle, which generates additional unnecessary costs. Additionally, it should be remembered that if the buyer terminates the civil liability insurance contract, the premium is due to the previous owner, because he paid for the contract.
Can I buy a used car from a dealer?
A large number of car dealerships have recently started buying vehicles back from their original owners and then selling them - a good example is the Used-New Vehicle program . It is a branded showroom that is associated with a proven source, therefore there is a growing interest in buying used vehicles from such a place. Used cars available from dealerships have several advantages. First of all, their technical condition is thoroughly checked. Secondly, their source of origin is also checked. Car dealers can also offer us comprehensive vehicle insurance. Its offer also includes various insurance packages from several companies, so there is a lot to choose from. In addition, it happens that we can get the repair of the vehicle at authorized service stations from which we purchased the vehicle.
