Globe Traveler Falcon 2Z – an uncompromising camper for two

One of the hot Polish premieres during the Caravan Salon 2023 fair in Düsseldorf was the newest child of the Globe Traveler brand - Falcon 2Z. The bigger brother of the Falcon 2XS we presented earlier makes an impressive impression at first glance. Based on the VW Crafter, the 6.8 m long campervan has a modified laminate roof and is designed for 2 people.

New from Globe Traveler - Falcon 2Z

A modern base vehicle from the Volkswagen stable is a guarantee of comfort and safety - 177 horsepower, an automatic transmission known for its reliability and precision, together with the overall high quality of finish and multimedia and driver assistance systems make up a very attractive package. Similarly to the Explorer 2X/2XS model, the manufacturer focused on a front arrangement of two swivel seats, a fold-out table and a single seat/sofa. The table itself can be easily folded and stored in the designated storage compartment in the double floor.

The designers' goal was to use the space as efficiently as possible - no cabinet, storage compartment or drawer is accidental. The kitchen block located next to the entrance door will accommodate all accessories and provisions. The worktop is equipped with a sink with a characteristic black tap and - depending on your preferences - a traditional gas stove, a Dynacook gas heating field or an induction hob on a special pull-out shelf (in the gas-free version, but more on that in a moment). At the end of the kitchen there is a spacious slim tower fridge-freezer that can be opened from both sides.

Opposite the kitchen there is an entrance to the bathroom. Here, in addition to a shower and a foldable washbasin, we also have a toilet - the standard is a chemical toilet, but the list of options also includes increasingly popular solutions from the brands Clesana and Trelino. The washbasin and the materials used to finish the interior are of the highest quality - as befits a premium brand. In the wall next to the shower there are shelves for storing towels and cosmetics, and behind the mirror opened with a tip-on latch there is an additional cabinet.

The bedroom at the back reflects the layout of the Globe Traveler bestsellers, i.e. the "Z" variant (two separate beds that can be joined into one large bed). Under the bed on the driver's side, we gain access to a wardrobe with a clothes rail, and at the very bottom, the designers have provided a virtually invisible drawer that can be used to store valuable items or electronics.

A powerful Globe Traveler Falcon 2Z garage

The culmination is a monster garage that can accommodate bicycles, furniture, luggage and sports equipment. Of course, its entire space is illuminated, and additional devices can be connected to a 230V or 12V socket. The height of the rear cargo area is 100 cm and can be equipped with side windows in the bedroom.

Users of tall bikes who do not necessarily want to dismantle them for transport or are not interested in transporting them on an external rack can order the vehicle in a version with a high garage (115 cm). An optional element of the "Bike" version is a extendable platform equipped with special mountings. The permissible total weight of the vehicle can be 3.5 or 3.8 tons - the heavier version was especially popular at the fair in Düsseldorf.

Falcon 2Z – worth the price

At first glance, the price of around EUR 135,000 (the German retail price including VAT displayed at the manufacturer's stand) may seem high... However, it is worth taking a closer look at the specification and the "benefit package". In Europe, you can count on the fingers of one hand the number of manufacturers representing the premium segment and offering comparable vehicles. Globe Traveler is aware of its target group and has adopted a completely different tactic than the competition.

There is no point in looking for a price list that screams at us "PRICE FROM..." – instead, the manufacturer consciously proposes a ready-made configuration including elements that should be obvious in this class. In terms of construction, it is worth noting that the car presented at the fair, in addition to a custom laminate roof, was equipped with stationary air conditioning, induction chargers, a extendable platform for bicycles, an extensive "gas-free" package, i.e. huge lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 2x200 Ah and a Dometic converter , solar panels with a total power of 350W, as well as a booster from the German brand Büttner.

The base cars used in Falcons have powerful engines, automatic transmissions and a set of the most sophisticated options affecting aesthetics, functionality and safety. Insider fans of the brand claim that you can always buy a camper, but you can also have a "Glob". There is something about it…
