Pilote P716P - the perfect compromise

The Pilote P716P motorhome is one of the most popular models of the French brand. It is so for a reason. We are dealing here with a vehicle that is not too big, not too small, and spacious at the same time. Up to 6 people can sleep in the motorhome, which will be great news for both the family and a group of friends.

In the case of a motorhome, we will never have everything. A vehicle that will be very spacious inside can also turn out to be bulky when parking. On the other hand, an agile and manoeuvrable car may not provide enough space inside. Therefore, we are left with looking for the best possible compromise, so as to reconcile many different expectations. The P716P model has been such a close-to-perfection hit in the Pilote range for several years now. So let's take a look at the latest incarnation of this motorhome.

Hospitable interior

The Pilote P716P is based on the Fiat Ducato with a 2.3-liter diesel engine with (choice) 130 or 150 HP. The motorhome measures 7.15 m , so in terms of length it is in the group of medium motorhomes. The vehicle does not have an alcove superstructure, and its height (with air conditioning) is 3.05 m. The car has a chassis with a widened wheelbase, and its width is 2.30 m.

What is most pleasing about this motorhome is the spaciousness . The living room with a large table surrounded by comfortable sofas and armchairs is really impressive. Six people can fit here easily, and in the case of slim people, perhaps two more people could be seated next to it.

The second important convenience is a bedroom with a bathroom , which has been separated from the rest of the motorhome with a door. As a result, two people can go to sleep while others, for example, watch TV in the living room.

The bathroom itself is not large, but it has been managed very functionally. The shower tray is placed in the very corner of the vehicle, and the washbasin has an unusual trapezoidal shape , thanks to which it looks original and does not take up much space.

But let's go back to the living room. The kitchen part is not very spacious - it is true that a 3-burner stove and a sink can fit in, there are also spacious drawers and a refrigerator, but cooking can be difficult due to the small surface of the worktop .

In the dining area, however, we will find one more surprise. It is a double fold- down bed that is located above the table and sofas. However, if two people sleep in the bedroom and two on a drop-down mattress, where will we put the last two? Well, the sofas downstairs are also folded out , which can provide "reserve" accommodation for two more people.

Unfortunately, the problem is that the car has "only" five seats fitted with seat belts, which means that the sixth berth is intended only for the guest who has a different means of transport.

Quality in two versions

The construction of Pilote motorhomes combines aluminum and polyester elements and polystyrene insulation. Such a structure should guarantee high durability and protection against both corrosion and moisture.

The equipment of the P716P model will differ depending on whether we choose the cheaper version of Essentiel or the richer - Sensation . The second variant will be equipped with many elements not available in the basic version, such as: an anti-freezing tank for sewage, garage system with rails, containers and lighting, electric fold-out step, digital control panel , front and side shutters, radio with speakers in the camping part, light intensity regulator, hood with LED lighting, moody LED lighting, lighting in the wardrobe and additional decorative elements.

However, the basic equipment that determines the everyday functionality of the vehicle does not depend on the equipment version. In both variants we will get, among others comfortable Bultex mattress (on a fixed bed), 230 V, 12 V and USB sockets, 149-liter fridge , Truma 6000 gas heating, electric lowered bed in the living room , manual air conditioning in the driver's cabin, and even pre-installation for solar panels and satellite TV .
