The new Audi RS 6 Avant is a symbol of the technical possibilities of tomorrow. The new model is lighter and stronger than its predecessor, and its performance is even better. It accelerates from zero to 100 km / h in 3.9 seconds, and at the customer's request, the top speed can be as high as 305 km / h. The 4.0 TFSI engine produces 412 kW (560 hp), but consumes only 9.8 liters of fuel per 100 km on average.

The new Audi RS 6 Avant is a high-performance sports car that can be used every day. Its character and consistent sporting design are the work of quattro GmbH, one of the companies of Audi AG. The RS models produced by quattro GmbH, equipped with highly efficient engines, are the crowning achievement of the Audi model range. The RS abbreviation emphasizes that the models marked with it have a powerful drive unit, permanent four-wheel drive and are characterized by extreme driving dynamics, economy of form and excellent performance characteristics.

The 4.0 TFSI engine, which made its debut a year ago, is an example of the implementation of Audi's downsizing strategy in the sports car category. The V8 biturbo engine in the new Audi RS 6 Avant generates enormous power in all conditions with a displacement of 3,993 cm3. The maximum power of 412 kW (560 hp) is produced between 5,700 and 6,700 rpm, with a constant torque of 700 Nm between 1,750 and 5,500 rpm.

The rapid generation of thrust is primarily due to the two Twinscroll turbochargers. They are mounted, together with the intercooler, in the inner corner between the V-shaped cylinder rows. The exhaust side of the cylinder heads is on the inside and the suction side on the outside. This concept enables a compact engine design and short gas intake paths with minimal losses.

The RS-specific engine control and the unrestricted intake and charging system also contribute to the fast response of the 8-cylinder engine. The 4.0 TFSI unit has a sporty, deep sound, and a switchable flap in the exhaust system makes the sound of the engine even more complete. Optionally, the manufacturer installs a sports exhaust system.

The new Audi RS 6 Avant with the V8 Biturbo engine accelerates from zero to 100 km / h in 3.9 seconds, which is quite a feat for cars of this class. The top speed is 250 km / h (electronically limited by the manufacturer as standard). The optional Dynamic package allows you to reach speeds of 280 km / h, and the Dynamic Plus package allows you to travel at speeds of up to 305 km / h. According to the European fuel consumption cycle, the highly efficient Audi RS 6 Avant is satisfied with an average of 9.8 liters of fuel per 100 km. Such good driving economy is, among others. the result of the new, standard Start-Stop system and innovative temperature management. Compared to the predecessor model, fuel consumption is reduced by around 40 percent.

The cylinder on demand (COD) system is a trend-setting technology for the high efficiency of the Audi RS 6 Avant. It closes the intake and exhaust valves of cylinders 2, 3, 5 and 8 at low to medium load and low RPM. Until the rider accelerates the throttle more energetically, the 4.0 TFSI engine works like a 4-cylinder engine. In active cylinders, efficiency increases as their optimum operating points shift towards higher loads.

It takes hundredths of a second to switch between four-cylinder and eight-cylinder mode. The driver only notices a change from the display on the instrument panel. COD technology reduces fuel consumption measured according to ECE standards by around five percent, and when driving at moderate speeds by up to nearly ten percent. The active engine bearings compensate for vibrations generated during the four-cylinder drive mode by producing shifted anti-vibration.

The 4.0 TFSI engine is mated to an 8-speed tiptronic with short gear ratios. It can be operated in D and S modes. If the rider chooses to shift gears himself, he can use either the paddle shifters on the steering wheel or the RS-styled joystick on the center tunnel. The lower gears of the tiptronic have short, sporty ratios, while the eighth gear has a long gear ratio, which contributes to low fuel consumption.

The heart of the quattro permanent all-wheel drive with selective drive distribution between the wheels is the self-locking center differential with an increased locking value. Its temperature is regulated by an oil cooler. Upon request, the sport differential can smoothly distribute the forces between the rear wheels, thus increasing the vehicle's agility and stability.

The new RS 6 Avant is the first Audi model to feature adaptive air suspension sports air suspension as standard with its unique characteristics. Thanks to its dynamic adjustment, the body of the Audi RS 6 is suspended 20 mm lower. Thanks to the adjustable damping, the system adjusts the suspension to the road surface conditions, driving style and the operating mode of the Audi drive select dynamic handling system. This system, in turn, allows the driver to determine how important components work. The driver can personalize it by selecting one of several modes.

As an alternative to the RS 6 adaptive air suspension, the stiffer Sport Plus suspension is available with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC). This solution uses steel springs and shock absorbers with a three-stage adjustment range. They are placed at an angle above the oil lines. They are connected to each other by a central valve, which ensures greater vehicle stability on the road. Another option available is the dynamic steering system with continuously adjustable power steering and gear ratio. It can be integrated into the Audi drive select driving dynamics system. Like the standard electromechanical power steering, it has been specially adapted to the needs of the new Audi RS 6 Avant.

The brake system works reliably in all situations. The four internally ventilated, wave-shaped brake discs feature a Wave design to reduce weight. The front discs have a diameter of 390 mm. They include black painted six-piston calipers. Red clamps are optionally available. Audi can supply carbon-fiber ceramic brake discs with a diameter of 420 mm on request. In their case, the calipers are anthracite colored. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) has a sport mode and can be completely deactivated.

The new Audi RS 6 Avant is fitted as standard with high-gloss 20-inch forged wheels with seven twin spokes. An alternative are 21-inch cast rims, available in three styles - shiny silver, black or polished, in the color of titanium.

The excellent dynamics of the Audi RS 6 Avant is largely due to the bodywork. About 20 percent of it is made of aluminum, and many components are made of high-quality steel alloys. The new Audi RS 6 Avant weighs nearly 100 kg less than its predecessor. Such a large reduction in weight results in even higher driving dynamics and better performance with reduced fuel consumption.

Numerous details specific to the RS models underline the independent character of the sporty Avant. At first glance, we can see the matt aluminum body elements: a black, high-gloss radiator grille at the front of the vehicle, elements widening the fenders and sills, and a large spoiler on the roof of the vehicle. At the rear of the vehicle, a diffuser and two large, elliptical tailpipes stand out. Their task is to provide an adequate outlet for air and exhaust gases.

Two alternative design packages, Aluminum matt and Carbon, can give the RS 6 Avant an even more individual look, including thanks to the quattro badge on the center front air inlet. In the case of the Carbon design package, both the front bumper spoiler and the diffuser have an even more expressive form. The new Audi RS 6 Avant is available in nine colors, including the exclusive Daytona Gray matt finish. In addition, the individual character of the vehicle can be further emphasized with the numerous options available in the Audi exclusive program.

The sporty and elegant cockpit of the new Audi RS 6 Avant has been precisely tailored to the driver's needs. The instrument dials have a black background, white dials, and red pointers. The key, a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel with a flattened bottom rim, illuminated door sill panels and displays for the MMI and Driver Information System (FIS) are adorned with RS badges.

A new feature in the RS driver information system menu is an optical signal that indicates the need to change gear. Information about the increasing number of revolutions is displayed on the display by means of a range scale in green. When the speed is close to the limit value, the range turns red and flashes. Complementing the driver information system of the new RS 6 are an indicator showing the currently selected gear, a tire pressure indicator, an oil temperature indicator and an electronic speed indicator.

The footrest, pedals and buttons on the MMI navigation plus terminal are painted in shiny aluminum. Decorative covers around the pull-out monitor are made in a piano lacquer style, and the internal door handles are made of double, filigree, longitudinal elements. This stylistic detail is typical of the RS model. The standard decorative elements are made of Carbon, but the buyer can also choose from six other materials. The black roof lining is also standard, which can be ordered in silver Mond or Alcantara black.

RS sports seats with sharply sculpted sides, integrated headrests and RS 6 badges are part of the standard equipment. Their black upholstery is made of a combination of Alcantara and leather, and the central parts of the seats are decorated with a diamond-shaped lockstitch. An alternative are the seats made of high-quality Valcona leather in black or silver, also decorated with a diamond-shaped trim. In addition, Audi can optionally install electrically adjustable comfort seats with memory settings.

As standard, the new Audi RS 6 Avant rolls off the assembly line with two sporty seats at the rear. A rear seat with three seats is available as an option. The luggage compartment capacity can be increased to 1,680 liters.

The new Audi RS 6 Avant boasts a really rich standard equipment. It includes, among others Xenon plus xenon headlamps, LED rear lights, tire pressure control system, illuminated door sills and a special driver information system. On board you will find a parking aid system plus and a conventional speed limiter cruise control. The Audi RS 6 Avant is also equipped with automatic air conditioning with three ranges, the MMI navigation plus with MMI touch and the Audi sound system with ten speakers.

On request, the customer can purchase LED headlights in distinctive optics, front and rear ceramic brakes and a sports suspension plus Dynamic Ride Control (DRC). In addition, there are also solutions such as the Dynamic Package, the Dynamic Plus Package, the Comfort Package and virtually all of the most advanced finishing options. These include: Head-up-Display, effective driver assistance systems and the Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound sound system with 15 loudspeakers with a total output of 1,200 W. The Bluetooth online on-board telephone is the perfect complement to the MMI navigation plus system, which allows you to use Audi services connect available via the Internet.

E-Co-Motion Transporter
Poznań, March 4, 2013 - The Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand will present the concept Transporter e-Co-Motion at this year's Geneva Motor Show. This car combines features that seem to be exclusive: it is compact and manoeuvrable despite the large cargo space, it can carry 800 kg of cargo, and thanks to the electric drive it does not emit harmful substances. "With the ever increasing demand for transport in large cities, electric mobility - especially for light commercial vehicles - could become of paramount importance," explained Dr. Eckhard Scholz, spokesman for the Brand Management Board. “The goods would be delivered to the city gates by rail or large trucks with traditional or hybrid drive. At intermediate stations, the load would be divided into smaller, electric cars, moving within a certain radius from a fixed base, with technical facilities for battery charging and maintenance. " Equipped exclusively with the e-Co-Motion electric drive, it offers many practical features: high maneuverability in a small footprint on the road, very good visibility, ergonomic seats and easy access to and from the luggage compartment, easy loading thanks to the low door edge and large cargo space capacity . The e-Co-Motion concept offers maximum space in a minimal footprint. With a length of only 4.55 m (width: 1.90 m, height: 1.96 m), the cargo space of this studio model is a maximum of 4.6 m3 and a load capacity of 800 kg. Such good values were achieved thanks to the clear division of the body structure into the lower part, necessary for driving, including the drive, battery and transmission located under the floor, and the upper part - intended for the load. Such a division has become the basis for the maximum use of space and the use of various types of buildings, corresponding to the wishes of customers. The customer decides whether it should be a driver's cabin with a built-in load box, a body intended for the transport of people, a low-floor box or a thermal insulation body.
