The T5 family of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is made up of many different versions equipped with powerful and fuel-efficient common rail diesel engines. The optional BlueMotion Technology package, which includes the Start-Stop system, brake energy recovery (recuperation), rolling resistance-optimized tires and cruise control, reduces the fuel consumption of TDI engines by 0.5 liters per 100 km. The T5 series offer has been extended with the BMT package for the 2.0 TDI unit with 180 HP. The changes in the engine offer also apply to the Volkswagen Amarok, which has received a new base unit. The previous 90kW (122hp) engine has been replaced by a 103kW (140hp) unit, which provides improved performance while maintaining the same fuel consumption.
The BlueMotion Technology package for the Transporter, Caravelle, Multivan and California models is now also available in conjunction with the most powerful 132 kW / 180 hp BiTurbo diesel engine with 400 Nm torque. The BMT package can therefore be combined with all engine and transmission combinations: front-wheel drive with manual gearbox or DSG, and with 4MOTION all-wheel drive.
Transporter Panel van with 132 kW / 180 HP engine with BlueMotion Technology, front-wheel drive and manual gearbox, consumes just 7.1 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers (Multivan 7.3 liters). This equates to CO 2 emissions of 187 g / km (Multivan 192 g / km).
The T5 series models with 132 kW TDI engine with BlueMotion Technology in conjunction with the DSG transmission and the Plus on-board computer have a freewheel function: when the driver takes his foot off the accelerator, the engine is automatically disconnected from the rest of the driveline and idles. This allows the car to roll with less resistance and save fuel. The freewheel function is deactivated e.g. by depressing the brake. This solution, with an appropriately anticipated driving style, allows you to further reduce fuel consumption.
Volkswagen Amarok has received a new base unit. The previous 90kW (122hp) engine has been replaced by a 103kW (140hp) unit, which provides improved performance while maintaining the same fuel consumption. The maximum power of the two-liter unit using common rail injection is available at 3,500 rpm, while the maximum torque of 340 Nm is available between 1,600 and 2,250 rpm. Thanks to these values, the Amarok with the new engine can accelerate to 100 km / h in 12.6 seconds (predecessor 13.2 seconds), and its top speed is now 168 km / h (previously 162 km / h). Despite the significant improvement in performance, the average fuel consumption of the Amarok with the new engine did not increase, a car equipped with BlueMotion Technology consumes an average of 6.8 liters of diesel for every 100 km driven.
In addition, the Amarok accessories have been enriched with new elements including, among others. RNS 510 navigation system with 6.5-inch touch screen and 30 GB hard disk, Rear Assist reversing camera and remote control parking heater.
