Thanks to its location in the south of the country, Carinthia has been enjoying warmer temperatures since May. The climate close to the Mediterranean and a large number of sunny hours attracts holidaymakers who want to enjoy a favorable aura during their vacation. Visiting the region will be made more pleasant by purchasing a Kärtnen Card, which allows free or discounted entry to many attractions (parks, museums, etc.) and free use of selected means of transport, including mountain railways or boat trips.

Carinthia attractions

The meadows of Carinthia are lush green and the lakes are clean and much warmer than in other regions of Austria. In addition, there are over 1,200 of them, 200 of which are bathing areas with water of such good quality that you can drink it. During a holiday in Carinthia, we are not bored. In addition to numerous water reservoirs, there are mountains (both low, where you can go with the whole family, and high, which are a real challenge for many), open valleys and vast plains. Regardless of whether you want to rest or spend your vacation as actively as possible, the region offers great conditions for enthusiasts of any form of activity. Those who love to splash in water should definitely visit the spa town of Bad Kleinkirchheim . It is a well-known ski base, which stands out from the competition with two thermal resorts: Römerbad and St. Kathrein. The first is the Roman thermal baths, considered by many to be the most beautiful European alpine wellness temple. There you can use thermal pools, saunas, inhalations and wellness treatments. Guests can relax and admire the mountain peaks at the same time. The second center, St. Kathrein , also has a rich offer - apart from thermal pools and SPA treatments, it also invites, among others, to the Roman tepidarium, solariums and whirlpools, and to the sun terrace. In both centers there is a special area for the little ones.

By the lake, among the mountains ...

Tourists planning holidays in Austria decide to visit Carinthia, because it will satisfy both those who cannot imagine their vacation other than by the water, and those who see hiking in the mountains or - in winter - skiing on the slopes under the slogan "holiday in Austria". A good idea for such people will be to come to the Millstatt Lake surrounded by mountains, located near the towns of Spittal an der Drau, Seeboden and Döbriach. In summer, the water temperature encourages you to swim even in the evenings, although sitting by the shore late in the day requires wearing something with long sleeves. Both tourists who want to rest on Lake Millstatt, as well as those who prefer mountain hiking (the village lies at the foot of Mirnock Mountain) and contact with rich nature (the vicinity of the Nockberge National Park) stop in the mentioned Döbriach . A large attraction is also hidden in Döbriach itself - there is the House of Storytelling here, a place that will appeal to all people curious about the world. Visitors will have the opportunity to make an unforgettable journey through the myths and legends of the region. House of Storytelling is loved by children who can learn there through play thanks to interactive multimedia platforms.

Camping on Lake Millstatt

Among the recreational facilities around the lake, a nice place called Seecamping Mössler deserves attention. Located approx. 500 meters from the eastern part of the reservoir and approx. 800 meters from Döbriach, it provides guests with a stay full of attractions. Its offer will appeal especially to families with children and the elderly, for whom weekly events are organized. There is a restaurant and supermarket right at the entrance to the campsite, and there is also a soccer field, a heated swimming pool and a wellness center. The facility has access to the lake, and apart from sunbathing and swimming, its guests can, among others, play table tennis or explore the area on foot or by bike. There is a playground for children, as well as a paddling pool by the pool. In July and August, children can enjoy a rich program of free animations.
