Summer is full of beautiful fragrances and flavors, and we store them for the upcoming long winter season; but before the cooler fall arrives, the end of summer is worth taking advantage of the fantastic hikes, just a few steps from Lake Garda in Trentino.

The region of Garda Trentino is the undisputed kingdom of mountain hiking , especially long hikes starting near the lake, leading to the mountains, with breathtaking views! Hiking and total loss in nature are often hampered by the high temperatures in summer. That is why walking and devoting yourself to mountain hiking at the end of summer is so much fun. The same applies to choosing a campsite in Garda Trentino for a nice holiday break .

Mountain trips on the Garda at the end of summer

At the end of summer , it is worth going on one of the simple routes that do not require a lot of effort. Thanks to these trails, you will get in touch with nature and enjoy the last rays of the sun, which from very hot turns into pleasantly warm, until only golden, autumn shades remain.

There is a choice of hiking routes , and some of them can turn out to be very demanding. Thanks to the less hot temperatures, when hiking at the end of summer you can go in search of many species of trees and plants in Garda Trentino, the sounds of nature, the smells of forests and endless mountain ranges, from the most intriguing Monte Brione (the so-called "little cap" of the lake) to after Monte Rocchetta.

Trek to the Bastion

It's really too hot in the summer, but in September, when the temperatures get nicer, the mountain hike becomes pure poetry! To paraphrase the rock giants Aerosmith, why not "walk this way" towards Monte Rocchetta until we reach Bastione?

Departing from Riva del Garda town center, follow the path as far as Monte Rocchetta and then to Bastione, one of the city's symbols. From the center, you will reach the embankment in about 15-20 minutes. If you wish, you can also walk along path 404 which will take you to Santa Barbara Church in about an hour. During the spring and summer season, there is also a bar-restaurant where you can relax after reaching the top with a cold beer in your hand! Don't worry, the path is suitable for everyone, and the view from it is breathtaking.

Hiking in and around Tenno

A wonderful route that partly follows the Garda Trek Medium Loop (if you need more information, click here ) to discover the Tenno and its most interesting places.

The medieval village of Canale (founded in 1211) is an ancient settlement that has remained almost intact to this day. This tiny, timeless place is truly moving. Thanks to ravines, picturesque wooden balconies and stone vaults, it will take you straight to the times of noblemen and noblewomen. In Tenno you will begin to breathe mystical air and your journey will be almost… meditative!

Once you are there, you can go to the San Pietro Mountain Hut , take a walk in the woods and, upon reaching the hut, see the beautiful panorama of Lake Garda . Going on this path at the end of the summer season awakens great emotions: the forest is getting ready for the coming fall, and some trees are already starting to turn green to yellow. Magic scenario!

The end of summer is the perfect time to visit mountain huts. The temperature is pleasantly cool, so you won't sweat or slip on the ice. All that remains is the beauty of nature, which dresses up in golden clothes to welcome autumn and its pleasant warmth. In addition to the San Pietro hut, we suggest going to the Marchetti hut on Monte Stivo. At the top you will be able to enjoy an amazing view of the Dolomiti di Brenta range and the Ledro Alps , as well as the Alto Garda .

The Damiano Chiesa mountain hut on Monte Altissimo is also worth a pleasant hiking trip! From the lake to the peak, which bears many signs of the Great War. You'll find trenches, bunkers, and places in the woods that were both hideouts and camps for soldiers at the time. A walking tour full of history, but also unspoiled nature, as the area belongs to the Monte Baldo Local Nature Park , a protected area famous for its exceptional biodiversity. At the top, refreshment and delicious dishes await us. The Damiano Chiesa chalet will allow you to taste great dishes from the Trentino area as if you were dining at your grandmother's house!

GardaTrek - top loop: the crown of Garda Trentino

Are you in the mood for a complete mountain experience? The most experienced tourists could spend their entire vacation in the Upper Loop , located in the crown of the Garda Trek . The route is approx. 94.4 km long. 7 sections from chalet to chalet, crossing all the peaks surrounding the northern tip of Lake Garda. A route that will give you unforgettable views at the end of the summer season, when the peaks are not yet covered with snow and the paths are safer because there is no ice on them yet.

It is undoubtedly a demanding hike (also for experienced tourists, equipped with the necessary equipment), which, however, rewards the effort by increasing the heart rate and offering a dignified end to the hot season.

Fall is just around the corner, but hiking at the end of summer will give you a golden tan and a well-being to keep in your heart all year round. Until next summer. Lake Garda Trentino will always be waiting for you, tempting with the bright blue color of the crystal clear waters.

The taste of apples at Lago di Ledro
People who like variety will fall in love with Trentino Alto Adige. It is a region in the north-eastern part of Italy, bordering two other Italian regions and two countries: Austria and Switzerland. Its location translates into a huge number of tourist attractions and a varied cuisine, richly drawing on the influence of its neighbors. If Italy, especially Trento, then polenta. It is usually served baked (smacafam), with bacon or sausage. Cheeses are an important element of the local cuisine, produced in most alpine valleys and chapels. Those interested in new flavors should try the mild Pustertaler, the spicy Graukäse, and if they like goat's milk products, then also the Ziegenkäse. When someone plans a vacation in Italy in terms of culinary experiences, they will quickly find out that Trentino-South Tyrol is the perfect destination for gourmands. The region is famous for apples, which are a frequent ingredient of dishes. It is worth getting to know the taste of the local strudels and the so-called Apfelküchel, pancakes a bit like donuts and a little pancakes. Local soups are nutritious, thick and difficult to digest - with a base of pork, potatoes or tripe. Meat is eaten a lot, ranging from poultry, through beef and venison, to trout and rabbit. Alto Adige boasts Speck dell'Alto Adige , a pork belly on the bone, dried and smoked in small artisanal factories in the Venosta Valley. It is protected by the IGP mark, and in regional restaurants it is served as a snack or appetizer, with dark bread or rice bread. When talking about the kitchen, the wine must not be forgotten. Red wines predominate in the region, but the most famous are white wines, including Sylvaner, Müller Thurgau and Gewürztraminer. They are distinguished by an unusual aroma and lightness.
