Tyrol in Austria is a region that attracts tourists from all over Europe. The lovers of white madness spend their time actively there. The ski season in Tyrol actually lasts from autumn to spring, and there are also routes of various difficulty levels. An unusual place in Tyrol is the town of Heiligenblut, located in the heart of the Alps, which boasts not only beautiful landscapes, but also an interesting history.

The highest peak in Austria is Grossglockner in Tyrol, which is 3,798 m above sea level. There you will find a world of eternal ice , rocks and tunnels hidden deep inside the mountain. The picturesque town of Heiligenblut is situated at the foot of this fascinating mountain at the end of the Hochalpenstrasse.

In the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park, in Heiligenblut, the multi-storey Nationalpark-Camping Grossglockner is located. Camping attracts lovers of white madness. There are plenty of ski slopes in the vicinity, but other sports such as table tennis, squash, cycling, football are also possible in the resort itself. Children can spend time at the local playground. The resort has its own free ski bus .

In the Nationalpark-Camping Grossglockner, comfortable and heated holiday homes with a kitchenette, bathroom and bedroom await the guests. Even a comfortable patio is available. You can also come there with a camper and use the plots with sanitary and electricity connections.

The resort provides its guests with meals in the local restaurant Almcasino , which serves typical Tyrolean dishes and is very popular for its very tasty food . It is worth tasting regional delicacies there, which are dumplings, noodles and dumplings with various fillings, or try the specialty of Tyrolean cuisine - gröstl (Tiroler Gröstl) made of meat, potatoes, onions and other additives fried in a pan. The dishes of this cuisine are not easily digestible, so it is best to wash them down with typical Austrian schnapps.

Heiligenblut - a town "wrapped" in mountains

It is worth leaving the camping for a while and going down to Heiligenblut. It is an unusual town, crowded with skiing enthusiasts. However, this place is so picturesque that it is worth going there not only because of the ski runs. Heiligenblut is surrounded and even overwhelmed by mountains. The trails lead to the peaks, among which the highest one - Grossglockner - reigns.

Heiligenblut can boast one more tourist attraction, related to its name, which in Polish means "holy blood". This name is related to the legend according to which the blood of Christ, placed in the bottle, is found in the local church. Temple of St. Wincentego is a historic building, it comes from the Gothic period and is characterized by a soaring tower. In this church, you can also see a valuable, two-winged, late Gothic altar.

The Grossglockner-Heiligenblut ski area is an excellent option for skiers who are just starting their adventure with white madness, as well as for advanced skiers. Freestyle fans will also find their way here, and they can test their skills at the Freeride Arena near Grossglockner.

Children were also not forgotten in Heiligenblut. Kids Ski Paradise & Snowland is a winter playground with a mini ski lift. The "Grossglockner" pass entitles you to use 55 km of slopes with 12 ski lifts at an altitude of 1,301 to 2,989 m above sea level
