Project # PajeroCamper4x3 - travel reports - Wild Beach in the Peloponnese
We are on the coast of the fourth large body of water on our trip. After the Adriatic, Aegean and Ionian seas, the time has come for the Peloponnese and the Mediterranean Sea.
Assuming that the Corinth canal separated the Peloponnese from the rest of Greece, we are on a large island. Apart from the names, it is wild, empty, otherwise ... Tourism has probably not come to these areas this season. It also seems that many centers failed to cope with last year's covid. Another part of them has been closed for years, I believe.
We reach the beach
We take small gravel paths to one of the beaches. The ascent with boggy sand seems quite simple, but the "slight" steep slope does its job. 3 Tones in the form # PajeroCamper4x3 weigh ...
Another attempt, because it is known that if you want to sleep on the beach itself, you cannot easily get discouraged.
Nobody is in sight and the beach is long. On my next climb, I haven't gotten to the full bury yet ... a Greek nudist approaches. It grew out of the ground. Shares valuable information. We already know what we looked like in his eyes. From the other side, it is said that you can drive up gravel.
We reach the beach, the simpler version is actually, but we are a kilometer away. Still completely alone. We stay.
Within a walking distance, several hundred meters abandoned bungalows and a curiosity, a small church / chapel; also not used, 20 meters from the sea!
Asia is cooking dinner, we do a bit of exploring the newest workaround :)
Fortress
Now comes the nail of the evening. The Peloponnese , infamous for stray dogs, reveals its face to us. Night in sight.
The first representative appeared. Small. However, he persuaded us to react quickly. We stay, because the beach is wild and we are completely alone on it.
We are building a bamboo "screen" around our Mitsubishi. Nights are so warm that we sleep on VentforVan grilles or / mosquito nets, we have the back door open. So we need support in the form of time for a potential response.
The effect of 1 hour of work resulted not only in tight fortification of our base. Zośka even took care of decorative elements and expanding the functionality of the bamboo fence. Dogs won't come in, that's for sure. A bit tight and we sit like on the Baltic Sea, but there are no more screens.
Our daughter's commitment and joy, however, compensate for a slightly claustrophobic dinner. It also gives a lot of peace of mind when it comes to uninvited guests. Two more large specimens were approaching, quite torn but resigned from attempting to besiege the offroad fort.
Moonlit night and calm. Waves at 6 meters from the bedroom did the rest.
