Are motorhome vacations comfortable?

There is only one way to find out: rent a camper and experience this holiday for yourself. Yes, but which camper should you rent (or even buy) to make your vacation comfortable and successful? What to pay attention to before renting a camper ... And finally, why is a holiday in a camper the best choice in the current situation? We answer the most common doubts of people who want to rent a camper for the first time in their lives.

Will it be cramped in the camper?

Most often you wonder how big a camper to rent? We usually recommend renting one camper per family. While a holiday in an apartment with friends or parents can work, there is much less privacy in a camper. Therefore, it is best to choose a camper only for the immediate family and not to rely on the additional number of places in the camper, because a camper that accommodates 6 people is not always comfortable for 6 people. Of course, we realize that even the closest family may consist of 5 or more people. Therefore, next, count exactly how many adults and children will be traveling with you and check the number of fixed and additional foldable sleeping places before renting a vehicle. Consider whether you will be able to adjust the vehicle for driving every morning for 2 weeks, and adjust it for sleeping every evening, and so on.

If you are very worried that you will be cramped, rent a large camper and remember that a 6-person camper will usually accommodate 4 people most comfortably. Then you don't have to set up two additional beds every day. Remember that these places are created by folding a table and a sofa, so the possibility of relaxing at the table in the evening is automatically eliminated.

Pay attention to how much luggage and sports equipment you want to take with you. See how big the trunk is. Think immediately about what things you must take with you and what things you can omit or what things you can rent on site - e.g. bicycles, scooters, SUP, etc.

What are the limitations of a campervan holiday?

The biggest limitation is the speed of travel and, consequently, the length of travel to the selected destination. campers are large and heavy cars. They drive slower than passenger cars. Take this into account when planning your trip.

campers also have weight limits. Ask the rental company how many extra kilograms you can take with you. The weight limit also ensures that you won't take too many things that you won't fit into the cabinets anyway.

Remember that apart from driving the camper itself, there are a few things you need to do once you arrive at the campsite. Dirty water tanks must be regularly emptied and waste from the chemical toilet must be poured out. Determine in advance who will perform these activities and if you are still planning a trip with more than one family, you can change your mind at this point ;)

Please remember that you can of course use shared toilets at the campsite. However, in camper parks or parking lots there is usually no such possibility.

Outdated campsites

Driving a camper around Europe is really comfortable. Well, what if you are afraid that the campsites will be outdated and the toilets dirty? Choose campsites that have 3 or more stars. At some campsites you can rent private bathrooms where you can leave your clothes, towels and cosmetics for the entire duration of your stay. I think I've only heard of one such campsite in Poland, but there are a lot of campsites with new, clean and warm public toilets, which also have large family shower cabins and rooms for changing and bathing babies.

In addition to the number of stars or clean toilets, it is worth paying attention to whether the campsite has a hard surface on the pitches and whether it has, for example, a service camper.

It may be tight, but it's your own

From the moment you pick up your camper from the rental company, it will be your little home for the entire vacation. You can organize the space in any way that is convenient for you. Take your favorite bedding, wine glasses, LED lamps to hang on the awning in the evenings. Want to cook in your camper? They have great gas stoves, sinks, large refrigerators and even an oven. Don't want to cook in your camper? Bring a barbecue or eat something at a restaurant. Remember that you can always order takeaway and eat in front of the camper. Well, you spend your holidays however you want.

You go wherever you want, whenever you want

The most important thing about traveling in a camper is probably freedom. You can, of course, plan your entire trip in advance, but nothing will stop you from changing it at any time. Perhaps you will like one of the places you visit so much that you will want to stay there a few days longer? Or on the contrary - will a place disappoint you so much that you will want to leave it immediately? No problem - if you don't have a reservation, you don't worry about anything.

The same applies to the weather. Have you planned a trip to Western Europe, but there are forecasts of 2 weeks of bad weather? Well, head towards the sun. If you go in a camper in winter, you will also be in a better situation than anyone in the hotel, because you can go where there is fresh snowfall and/or beautiful sunny weather.

Holidays better than in a hotel!

Campsites have many advantages over hotels. This includes: location and landscape values. Campsites are located far from cities and usually in the middle of the forest. Mountains, lakes, rivers and seas are at your fingertips. In addition to this camper, you can stay overnight not only at campsites, but also at camper parks, parking lots, e.g. at the beach or in the forest, and even in a vineyard. You can change the place even every day!

If you want to visit cities during your vacation, you are in an even better situation than staying in a hotel, because you can park your camper in the center of many cities and walk to the attractions.

We always encourage you to try different types of accommodation during your first camper holiday . Spend the night in a large Family Park with many attractions, stay at a small family campsite , spend the night in a camper park in one of the European cities. During such a holiday you will certainly see more than during a week in the same hotel. Traveling in a camper is an amazing adventure!
