Built-in refrigerator - how to choose it?
Choosing a built-in refrigerator should be carefully considered, especially when it is intended for a motorhome. Not all types of cooling devices are suitable for installation inside the cabinet, so it is worth making a good inspection beforehand to be sure that we have selected the best possible equipment. Find out what you need to know about built-in refrigerators.
When is the right time to buy a refrigerator?
Right now! In winter, we do not use motorhomes as often as in summer - this is the perfect time to take care of retrofitting our vehicle. In addition, now you can carry out minor renovation works or take care of preparing the built-in furniture for a refrigerator. After the summer season, there are often promotions on the range used in the campsites, so shop around. Maybe you will be able to hunt a fridge at a better price?
Absorbent or Compress?
The most frequently chosen built-in refrigerators are absorption or compression refrigerators. The first type is very often used in motorhomes and caravans. The big advantage of absorption refrigerators is quiet and efficient operation, as well as the fact that you can choose the power sources for the equipment depending on your needs. This type of cooling device can be charged with mains or battery power. Moreover, such a refrigerator can work without electricity, if it is connected to the gas cylinder in the motorhome. However, it is worth remembering that this type of power supply can only be used in spaces that have very good ventilation.
The advantage of an absorption refrigerator is also its size - standard devices have a capacity of about 40 liters. However, if you need really big cooling equipment, think about compress coolers. Currently produced models have a capacity of up to 140 liters and more. It is worth knowing that such devices are very efficient and work well even at high temperatures. In addition, they are extremely economical - suffice to say that they consume up to 6 times less electricity than absorption refrigerators (!). The great advantage of compression devices is that they can work with solar panels and then you do not need to supply them with electricity from the network.
Built-in refrigerator: what is worth paying attention to?
Some people associate built-in refrigerators with the difficulties of disassembling equipment in the event of a breakdown. Today's devices are attached in such a way that it shouldn't be a problem. What's more, now you can buy models that can be disassembled even when using the equipment at the same time, for example to increase the space of the refrigerator at the expense of the freezer compartment. In addition, it is worth buying cooling devices that have a patented lock. Thanks to it, the refrigerator will be protected against opening while driving.
Size: how to choose a built-in refrigerator?
First of all, it must be remembered that it will take up a bit more space due to the installation of the cooling device. This means that you have to plan the space in the motorhome so that movement is free, but also that the size of the refrigerator meets the needs of the vehicle users. Stationary refrigerators, which are used in motorhomes, have a capacity of 40 to 200 liters, the former being rather average weight.
