How to buy a good sleeping bag

The question is trivial? At first glance, it seems that no one should have any problems with such a purchase. And yet, buying a decent sleeping bag is not so easy - it is not enough to go to the store and choose the most expensive model.

As with buying a tent and anything else we need for camping, the decision to choose a sleeping bag should be carefully considered. If we want to buy an ordinary, cheap product, driven by the desire to save (or the lack of larger funds), sooner or later we will wake up frozen and broken. Whoever had the dubious pleasure of experiencing such a night knows what it is. A sleeping bag does not necessarily have to be thick, but it should be made of a decent material. This rule does not apply to mountain climbing enthusiasts and overnight stays in lower temperature conditions - such tourists will rather buy a thick sleeping bag filled with natural down . Of course, correspondingly more expensive.

Buying a sleeping bag - so easy?

When planning to buy a sleeping bag, we should take into account the season in which we plan to use it and our own physical conditions. It cannot be too big , because then it will not fulfill its function - for this reason, children should sleep in models that match their height. The body's tolerance to cold must also be taken into account. According to research, women tolerate them less well, and especially their feet get cold. That is why special women's models were created with more insulation in the lower part.

A rectangular quilt-type sleeping bag (it can be unfastened and unfolded) will definitely not work during a holiday trip - it is more suitable for insulated rooms, as a light covering while sleeping. The "mummy" model insulates us better from the cold, especially in the case of more expensive models, equipped with additional collars with welts and strips protecting the zipper.

We also choose a sleeping bag because of the insulation - down or synthetic . The first one is more expensive and heavier, but it perfectly protects against the cold. The second is cheaper and usually lighter, and dries faster. On the other hand, it sometimes has a tendency to settle ("splashing", not to say "fluttering"), which translates into a deterioration in the quality of the insulation. On the other hand, down insulation is not suitable for allergy sufferers. So, as you can see, choosing the right sleeping bag is not as easy as some initially thought.

People looking for a suitable sleeping bag will certainly be helped by the employees of the Pajak Sport company from Bielsko-Biała .
