When traveling with a child - necessary accessories for a motorhome and more
Contrary to parents' fears, children usually adapt well to new conditions, and traveling in a camper becomes a great adventure for them. However, it is worth preparing well for such a trip to best ensure the comfort and safety of the youngest family member. We have prepared a mini guide for you, in which we explain what accessories are useful when traveling with a child. Interested? We invite you to read!
Seat - the basis of safety
Children in campers, just like in other vehicles, must travel in child seats. You can easily put a regular car seat in the camper. Remember, however, that children under 150 cm should ride in child seats - driving without proper protection may be treated as an offense.
The exception are situations where the child is already over 135 cm tall and his weight and height make it impossible to provide him with an appropriate seat. The child seat should be installed on the back seat of the camper, in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
Scarves - when traveling with a small child
If you are traveling with a one-year-old or younger child, a scarf can be very useful. During stops and trips, you can wrap your child in it and leisurely explore and walk.
It is worth getting your child used to the scarf before the trip so that it has good associations with it. Most babies like to be carried close to their parent because it makes them feel safe. The scarf also relieves the spine and allows you to move freely with your child.
Organizers
Organizers are another thing worth thinking about before starting a camping adventure with a child. You can store your toddler's toys in them and thus keep the camper better organized.
Organizers are also useful for arranging clothes, shoes or accessories that you want to have at hand all the time. We also use them, for example, to store wet wipes for babies, cosmetics useful when changing a diaper or moisturizing balms. They work 100%!
Blinds on the windows
In newer campers, available e.g. at the CarGO! Camping Center. , blinds are installed in the windows, so you don't have to worry about it. However, if you are traveling in older campers, it is definitely worth considering equipping them with blinds. Thanks to this, you can slightly darken the interior during a nap so that your little one can sleep better.
The blinds lowered at night will also provide you with a slightly longer sleep - the sun's rays will not attack you in the morning. Our campers are additionally equipped with mosquito nets, which also protect against attacks by unwanted travel companions.
Attractions for children
In the new campers you will find, among others: TVs. They can be very useful when traveling with children. We recommend taking a few of your children's favorite fairy tales - they are useful when you need a moment of peace to prepare a meal.
It is also worth knowing that new campers are more spacious and enable easier transportation of mobility equipment, such as bicycles or children's scooters. Thanks to this, you can provide your children with additional entertainment in your free time, which can be easily done at the campsite or in its surroundings. It is also worth taking a few board games with you in the camper (many are adapted even to three-year-old children!) - joint family entertainment brings you closer and allows you to occupy your time, e.g. in case of bad weather.
Completed first aid kit
When traveling with a child, you cannot forget about an adequate supply of medicines and supporting preparations. We recommend taking not only patches and bandages, but also antipyretics, diarrhea medications, probiotics, electrolytes, an electric thermometer, insecticides, creams with a UV filter (preferably "thirties" and "fifties") and something soothing after sunbathing, preferably with panthenol.
We have created the CampRest portal for people who value freedom and travel on their own.
