Romania 2011 - part 2 - at the seaside
Day 7
Day 14
A small summary of ROMANIA 2011 (my team):
Number of days: 16
Number of participants: 4
Number of kilometers: 3,800
Average fuel consumption Superb with the box + Knaus: 9-9.5l / 100km ON
Cost: fuel, SK, HU, RO wines, WARTA TRAVEL insurance, green card (not checked), accommodation, food, admission tickets, drinks PLN 1300 / person = PLN 5200
Today, a section of approx. 550 km from Carta to Mamaia. Good road E68, then a little worse E81, but once it became a freeway it was OK, just boring. Bucharest bypass to drive, but not likely during rush hour. Fortunately, we traveled around 1pm our time. Bucharest-Constanta Highway, 11 lei additionally. Behind the highway, we turned left and drove about 20 km on a gravel road, but thanks to this we avoided Constanta.
Camping S is big and nice, only a few sanitary requirements. Cost: 115 lei / day / set.
Photos from the route ...
Day 8
The next three days are sweet "doing nothing" on the beach in Mamaia. The photos show our spot and a souvenir from a few kilometers walk along the seashore - a miniature of Dracula's castle ...
Here are some photos of Camping S in Mamaia: entrance gate, reception, restaurant, playground, sanitary facilities ...
Day 9
This morning we left at 4.30 am to take pictures of the sunrise ... The sun must have risen, but it was effectively covered by clouds. It was raining a bit until noon, so we played cards in the trailer until lunch, and after the meal, when it cleared for a few hours, we collected shells on the beach. You can get some nice specimens here. In the evening, time for a beer in a restaurant on the campsite. Food 15-30 lei, Ciuc beer 5 lei / 0.5l.
Day 10
Yesterday we got up at 4.30 to see the sunrise, but the cloudy sky did not allow us to take pictures of the sun, so today we repeated our wake-up call and ... it paid off. Here are some pics taken since dawn ...
Later it was a pity for such a sunny day, so a light breakfast, camping fee, little shopping in Lidl (prices similar to ours), then sunbathing on the beach, but the heat made us go back under the awning and play cards (I think I prefer driving around serpentine and the chill of the mountain air from the hot beach). Lunch and a walk along the seashore in search of shells ...
Tomorrow's departure to Count Dracula ...
And this is an evening farewell to the sea ...
Day 11
The day of departure from Mamaia. We got up earlier than expected, we quickly packed the trailer, breakfast, coffee and on our way ... I started the engine, drove to the trailer, waited for the power supply to be disconnected. When everything was ready, it turned out that Superb would not budge. Fortunately, a neighbor from Moldova had jumper cables. We connected Skoda to Citroen and after 5 minutes the car started. Probably something did not connect, because the battery tester showed normal charge, the more so that in the morning I lit it without any problems and drove to the hook.
We started ...
Roundabout in Novodari
and a shortcut from Novodari to the highway (this way, by accident, we do not pay for entering Mamaia, because the gates are behind Camping S) - gravel road, as I wrote earlier, but it is possible to pass
Day 13
I started my day by photographing the campsite. Overall a very nice campsite run by the Dutch. The owner even suggested a link exchange between CIRRUS TRAVEL and VAMPIRE CAMPING. The VAMPIRE logo is even on the posts. The cost for a complete set is 26.5 euro / day. but we got a discount and we paid 25 euros for three days. Here it is more profitable to pay in euros. There is a playground for children, lots of space "to choose from" for tents, caravans and campers, spotlessly clean toilets, and you can even eat something in the camping restaurant. Theoretically paid internet ...

Later on the highway, and a bit in traffic jams behind Bucharest
We drove into Campina to see the Hasedau villa built in the form of a castle
And beautiful views in front of Bran
Day 12
Today the trip "since dawn", that is at 8.00 am of our time (here is 9.00 am). We go to Sinaia to see Peles Castle and then to Brasov. On the route, you can meet a herd of horses completely not stressed ...
At the route at the foot of the castle, the parking lot is 3 lei per hour or 10 lei a day, entry almost to the castle is 10 lei a day - so we choose the second version. The castle and the beautiful garden, guided tours of the chambers, payable per person: basic 20 lei, + 1st floor 50 lei, + 2nd floor 70 lei (temporary 45min - 2.5h).
Then we looked for a gondola lift, but I think we reached a closed ski station. Euro exchange, refueling and off to Brasov. On the way, there is a monastery in Sinaia, then a monastery with mountains in the neighboring town and a castle in the same town ...
On the busy and main road E60, you could also meet a herd of cows and a herd of sheep ...
And finally, after shopping in the mall (tomorrow Sunday), we arrived at the market square in Brasov. Indeed, the old town has something of the atmosphere of Krakow.

Day 14
We decided to change our plans and today a short distance (145km) to Sighisoara. In the city itself, we found the Aquaris campsite - a revelation ... It is located close to the center, so we go to the city on foot - I did not even remove the stick from the car. It is basically a small swimming pool (depth for children 1-1.4m, main part 2.2-2.5m) with a separate fenced place for 10 sets or maybe 12 motorhomes, next to the pool there is a buffet bar, you can play table tennis play for free, car fee + flail + electricity + 4 people + free admission to the swimming pool non-stop = 60lei (and we can stay here tomorrow even until noon). Now there is a motorhome from France next to us, one T3 probably local and two German motorhomes have arrived. When I rest after lunch, I'll take some photos. Sanitary facilities are so-so, but there are several 230V sockets, there is a toilet dump, and so is the washroom. Toilets and showers next to the pool. The pool is not crowded. From 11am when we came here to 2pm, there is a swimming pool and pong-pong (we are pink, because the temperature is over 30 degrees). After a nap after lunch, we go sightseeing, and in the evening maybe a swimming pool again?
It was really worth doing only 145 km today, to be able to relax in the pool, but above all to visit this wonderful town. The campsite is located 50m from the Holy Trinity Cathedral, from where a bridge over the Tarnava Mare River leads to the Old Town with the dominant and characteristic Clock Tower rising to a height of 64m. The streets of the Old Town with colorful tenement houses create an amazing atmosphere. One enters the Church on the Hill via wooden and stone stairs - a building from the 17th century.
We ended our walk with a feast in the world-famous La Perla Pizzeria.

NICKT
By passion ... traveler, photographer, but I am primarily interested in the automotive industry. So far, trips rather by car, accommodation or overnight in the car. A caravanner since autumn 2009. He used to travel with Adria, Knaus, BoXerk, and now HYMER B544 has appeared. What next ... time will tell. Maybe someone wants to read my reports, maybe he will follow me.
