Madrid is not only the capital of Spain, but the entire region including cities such as Aranjuez, Alcalá de Henares and El Escorial. When it comes to camping, Madrid has a lot to offer, but you have to be a little further away from the largest city in the region. Contrary to appearances, there is no shortage of attractive places to relax in the bosom of nature!
The most visited tourist facilities in Madrid and its vicinity include, among others, museums located in the capital: National Museum of the Queen Sophia Art Center with works by Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali, Prado art museum with a priceless works of art collected by Spanish kings and Royal Palace. The top tourist facilities also include the Real Madrid Estadio Santiago Bernabéu football stadium, which is open to the public and the Parque Warner Madrid in San Martín de la Vega, adored by children and all thirsting for thrills – an amusement park with numerous attractions like roller coasters inspired by the productions of the famous Warner Bros Studios.
Madrid is a powerful urban agglomeration, but there are plenty of valuable natural areas here. Among them are mountain areas with peaks exceeding 2,000 meters in the Sierra de Guadarrama range: Peñalara (2428 m), Cabezas de Hierro (2383 m), Cerro de Valdemartín (2280 m), Bola del Mundo (2265 m) and El Nevero (2209). In turn, meadows, fields and moors are spread around the Tajo basin, and along the Tagus River there are extensive plains. Many nature parks and reserves have been established throughout the region, including Sierra De Guadarrama National Park, Montejo Beech Forest protected area and Cuenca Alta del Manzanares Regional Park.
