5-seater van with compact dimensions - a novelty from the Randger range
We have presented the Randger brand many times on the pages of our portal. This French manufacturer, belonging to the Trigano concern, has been conquering the European camper van market for several years. Ergonomics, interesting interior layouts and Trigano 's know-how are undoubtedly one of the greatest advantages of the manufacturer.
How does Randger surprise us this time?
Randger R555 is a motorhome-van based on Fiat Ducato , it can travel up to 5 people. It is not a matter of course in this type of vehicle. Up to 6 travelers can find a place to sleep here. The interior layout is extremely thoughtful and practical. Taking into account the quality of workmanship and extensive standard equipment, we are dealing with one of the most interesting novelties in this market segment. In addition, all this at an affordable price.
Randger drive and dimensions
In terms of propulsion, there are versions of the well-known 2.3JTD Multijet engine with 140, 160 or 180 horsepower available in the Randger 3 camper van , the recently introduced extremely successful 9-speed automatic transmission is available as an option. The car is 288 cm high, 205 cm wide and only 599 cm long (!). Such dimensions make the motorhome not only maneuverable, but also translate into a relatively low curb weight and much lower fees, e.g. on ferries. Also in the case of using a vehicle with a trailer, we gain an agile and handy set to drive (with quite a lot of towing capacity).
Everything at hand in the camper van
The kitchen to the left of the entrance is equipped with a sink and a two-burner stove, below we have three spacious drawers equipped with high-quality fittings and a Dometic compressor refrigerator with a capacity of 110 l.
Interestingly, an electric absorber is installed above the stove, which is offered as standard equipment in this camper van. On the side of the kitchen block there is a foldable worktop extension. Between the kitchen and the sleeping area there is a central monitoring system for on-board systems. An easy-to-read, black display with contrasting LEDs indicates the battery charge level, the level of clear and gray water and the power source.
Next to it there is a TRUMA 4 D system controller (the heating source in the Randger motorhome is diesel), a car 12 V socket and a double USB socket. In total, we have 4 USB sockets and 2 230 V sockets.
The motorhome is factory-equipped with a wide, electric step, external shower, mosquito net for the side door and thermal curtains for the rear door.
The bathroom layout was solved very practically in a small space. We have a comfortable shower cubicle here, with a cassette toilet that moves along the wall and a pull-out washbasin at the same time. Perfectly used space and one of the best layouts we've seen in camper vans .
Sleeping and storing in a motorhome
The rear bed is placed transversely and measures 186 x 132 cm. The bed in the front part, which is obtained after rebuilding the seats, has the dimensions of 183 x 114 cm. The electrically lowered bed above it is the largest in the entire vehicle and measures 197 x 132 cm.
It is difficult to talk about comfortable sleeping conditions for six adults, including a camper van . However, families with children should not have a problem with sleeping the whole gang. Fitting the living space for 6 people on board the less than 6-meter camper van is, of course, a compromise, there is no point in even cheating anyone. The manufacturer, realizing that the need for luggage space also goes along with the number of people, decided to enlarge the cabinets on the side of the legs in the back. We can even find a place for clothes on hangers. There is a shelf and luggage space under the rear bed. At the rear of the motorhome there is also a compartment for 2 gas cylinders, 6 kg each.
General impression of the Randger motorhome
The entire vehicle fits really solidly, and the wide range of standard equipment positively surprises. Practical accessories and solutions, such as an electrically lowered bed, Remis front blackout blinds, hidden in the premium Dometic / Seitz SR7 window or a table handle on the outside of the vehicle translate into comfort of use. The driver's position and the front passenger's position are comfortable thanks to the aircraft seats with armrests. The basic equipment of the vehicle includes electrically controlled and heated mirrors, cruise control, Traction +, 2 airbags, on-board computer, air conditioning and a spare wheel (with a factory lift).
As mentioned above, due to its dimensions, it is not a camper van for long trips for a group of adult travelers. On the other hand, families with children or couples who occasionally host additional passengers will surely appreciate the possibilities of interior arrangement. The possibility of choosing from as many as 7 body colors and two modern combinations of upholstery colors leaves a lot of room for personalization.
