Volkswagen Amarok is a very successful pickup, which in the four-wheel drive version may turn out to be a quite efficient off-roader. What if you add a camping structure to it? This is what the German Bimobil did.

Critics dismiss this car as soon as they see it. The motorhome, which is called Bimobil Husky with camping equipment, strikes some people with its angular living space, which does not fit the round shape of the Amarok at all. However, proponents do not care about aesthetics - they focus on practical advantages.

For every occasion

Especially when choosing the 4x4 version, you can appreciate the benefits of having such a vehicle. Comfortable on asphalt, able to cope with even difficult terrain, and also suitable for comfortable camping - what more could you want? You don't have to drive to the camping site with such a car. You can just as well go into the unknown and reach places inaccessible to ordinary tourists.

An important feature of the Husky model is the possibility of removing the camping part . Apparently, uninstalling or reinstalling the "house" takes only 15 minutes. Thanks to this, we can leave the camping part in one place, and go sightseeing in a lighter, almost ordinary car.

With full equipment

The camping part is crowded, but what this car offers may turn out to be a luxury in the field. Inside you will find everything that is available in much more spacious motorhomes: a refrigerator (with a capacity of 60 or 95 liters), a kitchen worktop, a gas stove, a sink ...

There is even a bathroom . True, it is microscopic, but it still manages to cram a chemical toilet, sink and shower !

There is also everything necessary in the living area. One bed has been placed above the roof, while the other can be arranged by lowering the table and unfolding the two sofas next to it.

In most variants, the manufacturer provides 3 beds. However, there are also versions in which even a family of 4 can cope .

The motorhome has space for heating Truma Combi 4 , a fresh water tank (50-80 liters) and a waste water tank (60 liters). The tank and on-board equipment were hidden in chests under the sofas. The upholstery is colorful and the furniture is made of light wood. There is also LED lighting.

Long, short or wide

An important advantage of the Husky is its load capacity, which in some models can reach 785 kg (and with optional modifications even up to 845 kg). Amarok-based motorhome prices start from 58,270 euros in Germany.

The car is offered in three basic versions. Husky 220 - has a large cabin with two rows of seats in the passenger area. Its length is 535 cm and its wheelbase is 309.5 cm. Husky 270 with the same wheelbase has a shorter cabin with one row of seats. The total length of the vehicle is 522 cm.

Who wants more space, can opt for a model with a double cabin and a wheelbase extended to 340.5 cm - Husky 258. This car is 565 cm long. For each model, there are two interior layouts to choose from.

Bimobil also offers bodies for cars of other brands, incl. Nissan and Toyota.

I am proud of our employees and how much our company has developed over the last twenty years. We are the largest employer in Greater Poland, a strong production center for the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand with an average annual production of 170-175 thousand cars. Our position will strengthen with the launch of the new Volkswagen Crafter plant in Białężyce near Września, which is scheduled for the second half of this year ”. - says Dietmar Mnich, Director of the Volkswagen Plant in Antoninek in Poznań. Poznań did not immediately become the production center for Transporter and Caddy. Significant expansion of the factory involving, inter alia, on the construction of a modern paint shop and the creation of a special body shop, it meant not only an increase in employment, but also in the total production capacity from about 40,000 to about 170,000 cars per year. As a result, on December 11, 2007, the factory celebrated the production of the millionth car, the Caddy Maxi Furgon. In 2015, 170,810 vehicles were produced at Volkswagen Poznań: 20,447 Volkswagen Transporter models and 150,363 Volkswagen Caddy cars. Continuously since 2003, Volkswagen Poznań is the only factory in the world that produces the Volkswagen Caddy light commercial vehicle. Currently, the production capacity of the factory allows for the production of 720 cars a day.
