At the west end of France, in the city of Brest, there is a small plant that converts small vans into motorhomes. Characteristic for the Iroise brand are models with a lifting roof, which the company uses mainly on the basis of the Volkswagen T6, Peugeot Expert and Fiat Doblo. Today we will focus on these last two proposals.

Peugeot Expert

The biggest novelty in the Iroise range is the new Peugeot Expert. As a motorhome, it comes with two types of roof. The first model was conceived as a four-seater vehicle, and its greatest distinguishing feature is the tilting roof with a double sleeping place "on the upper floor". You can also sleep in the lower part of the cabin.

The second version, on the other hand, was designed to transport up to five people , but instead of a sloping roof, only a characteristic "mushroom" hovers. Only two people can sleep in this car.

The vehicle has a modular construction, including, among others a kitchen block with a sink, shower, two-burner gas cooker and an aluminum cover that can be used as a cutting board. There are two 20-liter canisters for clean water and one for sewage. There is even a removable chemical toilet in one of the cabinets. The drawers have a soft-close mechanism.

Under the armchairs that transform into a double bed, there is space for additional drawers, as well as a 50-liter refrigerator . The manufacturer did his best to gather as many different compartments as possible in a small space. There is also a table that can be placed between the sofa and armchairs.

An interesting solution are curtains that can cover the windshield with side windows, thus separating yourself from the outside world. The vehicle has 220V and 12V sockets, USB outputs and 4 LED lights.

The Iroise motorhome measures 495 cm and is available with five engines - 3 of them are 1.6 units with 95 and 115 HP. The remaining engines have a capacity of 2.0 and a power of 150 or 180 HP. The version with a mushroom roof costs at least 40,500 euros in France, and 43,900 euros with a large roof.

A 460 cm long Compact version is also available for sale. This version is, of course, tighter. Apart from the smaller amount of furniture, the attention is drawn to the lack of free space between the unfolded couch and the front seats. However, these shortcomings are offset by greater maneuverability and a lower price - 39,800 euros .

Fiat Doblo

An even bigger surprise may be a motorhome obtained from Fiat Doblo. In this case, the driver and passenger seats do not turn towards the "passenger area" - there is simply no room for that. On the other hand, while sitting on a fold-out couch at a table, you can completely separate yourself from the "cab" with a curtain.

There is a place for drawers above the bed and under a bed of fairly standard dimensions , 190x125 cm . What about kitchen equipment? This can be found in pull-out drawers at the rear of the vehicle. Access to them is only from the outside. However, it is important to know that the vehicle is registered as a two-person vehicle. No passengers are allowed in the rear.

The undoubted advantage of this vehicle is its price. In the basic version (1.6, 105 hp) it costs only 22,600 euros .

Iroise carries out bodyworks on both new cars and vehicles provided by customers. The manufacturer notes, however, that in some cases the costs of adapting an old vehicle may be so high that it is better to consider buying a new car.
