Niewiadów N126 - campsite for pennies

The number of active leisure time enthusiasts is constantly growing, also on the Vistula River. New rentals and distributors of camping equipment appear on the dynamically developing Polish caravanning market each year. Most amateurs of camping relaxation are still in favor of buying their own caravan or motorhome.

A budget alternative to renting

Unfortunately, not everyone can afford to buy an old caravan of German or Italian production, despite the passage of time, presenting a decent technical condition. An interesting alternative to the aforementioned products and expensive rental is the second-hand Niewiadów N126n trailer. The Polish construction , produced for several decades, was the most popular, of course, in the times of the People's Republic of Poland, enabling thousands of families to go on vacation to Bulgaria or Greece.

The compact caravan was created for the users of the most popular cars of that time: Fiat 125p and 126p . This is one of the reasons why it was decided to use a simple structure - the basis for both the chassis and the living area is a galvanized steel frame . Low curb weight and a load capacity of just over 100 kg allowed to use the suspension with rubber spring blocks - the wheels were from Fiat 126p.

The living compartment is made entirely of resin and fiberglass, which eliminates the problem of corrosion . We will make any repairs (cracks, scratches) on our own, using fiberglass and resin . What's more - any leaks will be removed with ordinary silicone , and the best way to "renew" the appearance of the caravan is to regularly wash it with a car shampoo .

Vacation minimum

The interior of the N126n will deeply disappoint caravanning enthusiasts who are used to the comforts provided by Western-made caravans. For three (or four people - depending on the variant) there is a minimum necessary space. Entering the caravan, on the left side you will find a small fold-out table which is the basis for a single bed . Right next to it, under the side window, there is a functional kitchenette . It is equipped with a two-burner gas stove, a single-chamber sink , below there are two spacious cabinets for kitchen accessories (one of them is sometimes replaced by an optional refrigerator ). Opposite there is a tall wardrobe with additional storage at the bottom. The next two places to sleep are created after folding a larger table and two sofas. Unfortunately, tall people may complain about too narrow interior.

Functionality from the last era

Under each seat there are large compartments for tourist equipment, with a vestibule at the fore. At the front of the trailer, on the drawbar, there is a box for gas bottles and a maneuvering wheel . Even after 20-30 years of use, in many cases the vestibules are still in full working order - only the material loses its color quickly . Folding out the roofed usable space with three opening walls takes several dozen minutes - the frame is created after folding a series of aluminum tubes .

Finding a well-groomed copy of the N126n - sometimes from the first owner - will not be a difficult task. 2-3 thousand zlotys will be enough, while any repairs will cost about a thousand zlotys in gusts.
