The rise in prices of recreational vehicles is a painful fact for all of us. Whereas 4-5 years ago, in a considerable budget of up to PLN 400,000. you could choose from the best brands, but now, due to availability problems and constant price increases from manufacturers, finding a reasonable car is becoming a challenge.

When the Hymer /Dethleffs group launched the production of recreational vehicles at the Capron factory in Saxony 16 years ago, it had a clear, long-term goal. The Carado and Sunlight brands coming off the local production lines were seen as a way to gain a competitive advantage in the face of the advantageously priced vehicles branded by the Southern European brands from the Trigano group.

The marriage of German design and technical thought with legendary German quality in the case of Capron has proven successful on the market. Does the "split" between price and quality affect the final result? As the opinions of experts and users, as well as sales results on the demanding markets of Western Europe, show, these are proposals worth considering.

Sunlight I68 camper - a place for the whole family

In this material, we would like to introduce you to the Sunlight family integrated model. I68, as we are talking about, is a classic proposition for a family of 4/5 people.

Inside you will find a classic cab arrangement with aircraft seats that swivel towards the table in the living room, a 2-seater sofa and a side seat that can optionally be transformed into a fifth driving seat. Interestingly, instead of a table and a sofa, we can easily build an additional bed measuring 210x65 cm. The drop-down bed above the living room measures 150x210 cm. Above the sofa and above the kitchen, of course, the space was used for spacious cabinets.

The kitchen is a rather compact module equipped with a sink and a 3-burner gas stove, the cover of which can be used as a worktop. Opposite the stove there is a fridge-freezer with a capacity of 113 liters (standard) or 167 liters (option).

Another proven solution is the bathing room divided into two parts, separated from the living area by a door. On one side there is a toilet, washbasin and cabinets, on the other there is a separate shower cabin with a rigid door. At the back there is a spacious bedroom with 2 separate beds measuring 210x80 and 215x80. Using an optional connector, we can create powerful Morpheus arms with an area of 210/215x210 cm - enough even for parents and two children. There is a wardrobe with shelves under one of the beds, and a clothes rail under the other. The space under the ceiling was used for spacious cabinets and shelves.

Modern interior and new Ducato

Noteworthy is the spacious garage, the permissible load of which is 150 kg. The service hatch has dimensions of 95x110 and the lower edge has been lowered for easier loading.
Integra has dimensions 741x232x290 (length/width/height), and the interior clearance is 210 cm. The thickness of the floor is 41 mm and the walls are 34 mm. The roof and rear wall are covered with a resin laminate, while the side walls are covered with aluminum. As standard, there is a SGM battery with a capacity of 95 Ah on board.

The clean water tank holds 122 liters including the boiler, the gray water reservoir holds 92 liters. Pleasant lighting under the cabinets and behind the bed in the bedroom is an attractive addition. The interior is bright and gives us a sense of space. The Truma Combi 6 gas heating can easily cope with the volume of the vehicle. Optionally, you can order the 6E heating version with an electric heater.

The base vehicle is the latest Fiat Ducato with a capacity of 2.2 l and 140 HP. The permissible total weight is 3.5 tons. The Fiat Light chassis base optionally allows you to order a variant homologated for a GVM of 3,650 kg. With such large dimensions of the car and a relatively high curb weight of slightly more than 3 tons, it may be worth considering.

The list of optional equipment is long and unfortunately we will have to pay extra for, for example, tank insulation and framed windows, but if we are serious about year-round traveling, this may turn out to be an indispensable condition.

Sunlight is a popular brand that keeps up with the times in terms of design and technical solutions. In a world of crazy prices for new vehicles, it is definitely an option worth considering.

The price of the I68 model for 2022 is less than PLN 400,000. The cheapest comparable offer of the parent brand, Dethleffs Trend, costs approximately PLN 70,000 more.
