Take your bike camping

The best solution is probably the mini-garages provided in the largest motorhomes. Not only a few bicycles can fit there, but also e.g. a scooter or a motorcycle. However, most motorhomes do not have this facility. So you have to deal differently.

Two types of luggage racks are most commonly used. The first type - intended for motorhomes, is mounted on the rear wall of the vehicle. The second type are racks mounted on the trailer drawbar.

Omni-Bike Lift

In a motorhome, a rack such as the Omni-Bike Lift should work very well. It is mounted on the rear wall of the trailer in the form of a ladder to which two rails are attached. Bicycles are mounted on these rails. The distance between the wall of the motorhome and the first rail is 40 cm. 30 cm further there is the second rail.

The rack must be lowered to attach or remove the bike. In the version with a lever mechanism, it is necessary to turn the handle for this. However, there is also a more expensive version, equipped with a 12V motor, which simplifies the entire operation. After mounting the bikes, just press the button (and in the cheaper version, turn the crank) to set the rack at the desired height.

The rack should be attached to the frame with a strap. It can be conveniently folded up when not in use. The kit can be expanded so that a third bike can also fit in it.

Omni-Bike with a manual mechanism costs PLN 2,260, and with an electric motor - PLN 2,817. The set for the third bike requires an additional payment of PLN 225.

Omni-Bike Elite

An interesting solution is the Omni-Bike Elite, which allows you to mount a single bicycle holder on any wing of the rear door. This solution will work in a motorhome based on a van or a delivery vehicle, in which no changes have been made to the rear part of the body. The door can also be opened without removing the bike. Such a trunk costs about PLN 1,000.

Omnibike Sport Caravan Comfort

In the case of a caravan, a Thule carrier is better. It is mounted not on the wall of the trailer, but on the drawbar (although it can also be mounted on a window rail). The luggage rack is designed for two bicycles, but can be extended to accommodate three two-wheelers. The trunk costs about PLN 900.

Fiamma cover

Among the interesting accessories available on the market, the Fiamma cover can be distinguished, which allows you to protect the entire luggage carrier against prying eyes and against bad weather conditions with up to four bikes mounted on it. The price is around PLN 150.
