Volkswagen T5 TEROCK - a motorhome made of blocks

Terock is a motorhome based on the T5 Rockston model. The German company Terra-Camper , which loves to remake Volkswagen, showed what can be done from a seemingly boring van.

The basis of Terock can be Volkswagen T5 in any configuration. The engine can range from 83 to 180 HP, and the drive may only be on the front wheels, or on all of them. Versions with both 5-speed and 6-speed gearbox are used. The longest models can measure up to 5,292 mm, and the wheelbase can be extended up to 3,400 mm .

Lego made of aluminum

The idea of Terock (as well as other Terra-Camper models) is based on a modular construction. Thanks to this, in the middle of the car we will find something like blocks. All of them are made of aluminum, which means that they do not overload the vehicle. And this is especially important in this case, because with an unladen weight of 2,850 kg and a permissible gross weight of 3,200 kg , passengers only have 350 kg to use .

All the necessary devices are hidden in the orange boxes - incl. refrigerator, stainless steel sink, and a 2-burner gas stove. The water tank can have a capacity of 40 or 80 liters . The equipment may also include a pressure pump and a boiler in which water can be heated with the use of diesel fuel (water can also be heated while driving).

Belts on rails

There are five seats in the car. Those in the passenger compartment can be easily disassembled (or reassembled) by one person. If they are unnecessary or we want to transport more luggage, we can simply take them out. The armchairs can be rotated, placing them in a position convenient for eating (at the folding table) or in a more convenient way during a conversation. But importantly, the seats can be attached in different places on the vehicle . For this occasion, there are also prepared straps that can be moved along the motorhome on the lower rails on the floor.

The modular structure means that not only the seats, but also other equipment can be moved among themselves . For example, the kitchen sink, gas stove and shower can be used both inside and outside the vehicle (at the back of the motorhome). The case with the outdoor shower is particularly interesting. The manufacturer has provided a tent that acts as a shower cabin . It is enough to open the tailgate of the car, and when it becomes the roof, a black screen can be stretched around it, which protects the person taking the shower from prying eyes.

Rails also at the top

The equipment can even include a chemical toilet , although no zone has been separated for the toilet part. However, there are convenient compartments in mind. In the boxes that function as furniture, you can put special containers made of fabric. Each such "cover" will fit several clothes.

The manufacturer praises its EasyUse system very much. It is based on rails running above the side windows. You can hang curtains on them, but also sachets with tools, cosmetics or other small items, towel hangers or bags for clothes. It is also easy to install an LED lamp, flashlight or internal camera on the second rail. You can connect, for example, a shaver to the power source integrated with the rail.

Terock is offered with various types of roof. We have a choice of a raised hard roof, a raised fabric roof, as well as the standard version . In models with a high roof, we obtain a sleeping place "on the first floor". The fold-out mattress measures 130 x 200 cm. The manufacturer also allows the possibility of installing a sleeping place in the lower part of the motorhome.

The standard does not exist

The basic T5 Rockston costs 42,600 euros , but what this motorhome will contain is almost entirely up to the customer. By completing the appropriate equipment, you can easily reach the sum of 110,000 euros. For this price, we get a car with underfloor heating, parking assistance, solar panels and air suspension .

If this price suits someone, Terock will definitely be worth attention to him, if only because of the flexibility it offers. The car looks like an ordinary van, but in a long journey it proves that it has much more to offer.

2,500,000 cars from the Volkswagen Poznań factory
Poznań, 27 July 2016 - Today, the two and a half millionth car in the history of the Company rolled off the assembly line of Volkswagen Poznań. This number of cars has been produced in Poznań since 1993. The jubilee is an opportunity for memories, summaries and presentation of plans for the Poznań Plants. The owner of the unique 2.5 millionth Volkswagen Caddy is Mr. Dominik Pochodyła, an entrepreneur who runs an orchard and a pressing plant on a daily basis. “2,500,000 cars are a beautiful anniversary for us. I am proud of our employees and how much our company has developed over the last twenty years. We are the largest employer in Greater Poland, a strong production center for the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand with an average annual production of 170-175 thousand cars. Our position will strengthen with the launch of the new Volkswagen Crafter plant in Białężyce near Września, which is scheduled for the second half of this year ”. - says Dietmar Mnich, Director of the Volkswagen Plant in Antoninek in Poznań. Poznań did not immediately become the production center for Transporter and Caddy. In 1994, the assembly of Skoda Felicia cars was started in the factory - this year, less than 800 units of this model were manufactured here. In the following years, various models of brands were also assembled in Poznań: SEAT (Cordoba), Audi (A6) and Volkswagen (including Bora, Polo, Passat). In 1995, as the first automotive company in Poland, the factory obtained the DIN ISO 9002 certificate, which confirms the company's special care for the environment. Just a year later, Volkswagen Poznań established a foundry. To this day, it produces aluminum components, which are then installed in many cars of various brands from the Volkswagen concern. The years 2002 and 2003 were a breakthrough in the company's history. Then the last Skoda Fabia rolled off the assembly lines of the Poznań factory, and the factory was prepared for the production of two base models - Volkswagen Caddy and Volkswagen Transporter. Significant expansion of the factory involving, inter alia, on the construction of a modern paint shop and the creation of a special body shop, it meant not only an increase in employment, but also in the total production capacity from about 40,000 to about 170,000 cars per year. As a result, on December 11, 2007, the factory celebrated the production of the millionth car, the Caddy Maxi Furgon. In 2015, 170,810 vehicles were produced at Volkswagen Poznań: 20,447 Volkswagen Transporter models and 150,363 Volkswagen Caddy cars. These models are sent from Poznań to customers all over the world. Continuously since 2003, Volkswagen Poznań is the only factory in the world that produces the Volkswagen Caddy light commercial vehicle. Currently, the production capacity of the factory allows for the production of 720 cars a day.
