Westfalia Columbus - a smart choice
The motorhome market is full of products tailored to the various expectations and financial possibilities of customers. After all, not every caravanning enthusiast needs a camper with an alcove, full-size bathroom or a separate seating area. For some customers (with lower requirements and a more modest budget), the manufacturers have provided compact motorhomes, built on the basis of classic vans.
One of the models available on the market is the Westfalia Columbus . For most of us , the German manufacturer is mostly known for a truly tourist variation on the Volkswagen Transporter , created for active tourism. As it turns out - the brand's portfolio is much wider. Columbus, like most motorhomes similar to it, was built with the use of Fiat Ducato . From the outside of a small motorhome, it is distinguished from a standard delivery vehicle by unique stickers, vents, numerous tinted and tilt side windows , as well as a retractable step .
The model of ergonomics
The interior of the larger Westphalian model presents exemplary ergonomics . The driver's workplace allows him to cover several hundred kilometers without much fatigue . The dashboard with analog clocks and the on-board computer screen form a coherent whole. In terms of additional equipment, we can count on automatic air conditioning, electric windows, and even navigation - very useful for a vacation trip. The front, spacious seats are equipped with two independent armrests, what's more - when parked, we can turn them towards the interior.
please, step inside
We can get to the interior of the mobile home through wide, sliding doors . The step that slides out from under the car turns out to be helpful in getting inside. After opening the door, we see a rectangular table that can be enlarged if necessary . Behind the table there is a double sofa - obligatorily enriched with headrests and seat belts . There is a mandatory space under the ceiling for functional shelves and small cabinets . Interestingly - two sleeping places are created after unfolding the "platform" in place of the couch and table . If necessary, we can cut off the surroundings with curtains . A skylight has been installed above the seating area. On the opposite side of the interior, as in other motorhomes, there is a kitchenette with a gas stove, fridge, sink and cabinets for kitchen accessories.
Time to rest
Further in the interior, the manufacturer has grouped a compact toilet, a double bedroom, and well-thought-out storage compartments . In the locked bathroom we have a chemical toilet and a washbasin with cabinets and other amenities. At the back there is a double bed or two separate sleeping places . We can put the necessary tourist equipment under them.
