On Wednesday, April 29, 2020, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Minister of Health Łukasz Szumowski announced that from May 4, the second stage of return to normality will begin, which involves the opening (with restrictions) of hotels and other accommodation places as well as some cultural institutions such as libraries, museums or art galleries.

The prime minister is convinced that some control over the situation related to the coronavirus pandemic in the country has been taken, although of course you still need to be careful, but also flexible.

The tourism industry will start after the May weekend

Mateusz Morawiecki informed that the hotels and accommodation places will be opened on May 4, because it is necessary to maintain an appropriate sanitary regime during the picnic.

Although these facilities will resume operation, it will not be possible to use shared TV rooms, discos, children's playrooms, swimming pools, spa centers and saunas. - We are thinking about opening a restaurant in the next stages - pointed out the head of government.

Security of the facility

Hotels are to display in a visible place information about the maximum number of customers who can stay in a given part of the facility at the same time. The number of guests that can be accommodated by the facility is the number of rooms times two. It will be obligatory to arrange hand sanitizer dispensers available to guests, in particular at the entrances to the premises, toilets, and elevator entrances.

Guests should be able to purchase protective masks at the reception. The time you stay with her should be limited. It was also indicated that instructions for hand washing should be displayed in the sanitary rooms, and instructions for proper hand disinfection at the dispensers with disinfectant liquid. On the premises of the facility, instructions for removing and putting on a mask or gloves should be posted in many places. Of course, surfaces such as countertops, door handles, buttons must be disinfected on an ongoing basis and in accordance with sanitary regulations.

Matters between the facility's service and customers should be dealt with, if possible, by e-mail or telephone. Interestingly, a restriction of the routine cleaning of rooms has also been introduced, which should only be done at the customer's request. After each stay, it is recommended to disinfect all touch surfaces, equipment such as remote controls and bathrooms. Sports equipment, such as bicycles and kayaks, are to be disinfected after each customer. The necessity of frequent airing of rooms, especially those that are not air-conditioned, was indicated.

Employee safety

Employers should divide the shifts at work in such a way as to increase the safety of employees staying at a given moment on the premises of e.g. a hotel. The distance between them is to be at least 1.5 m. The Ministry of Development also wants to limit the number of people using common areas at the same time - such as the staff canteen, cloakrooms, so as to be able to keep a safe distance.

As far as possible, employees should limit personal contact both with each other and with guests to the necessary minimum.

Each accommodation facility will be required to prepare a procedure to be followed in the event of a suspected infection and inform its employees about it. You can read more about safety guidelines in accommodation facilities here .

The Prime Minister asks that, despite the easing of further restrictions, not to give up the existing safety rules - it is still necessary to cover the mouth and nose and maintain a safe distance, which was set at a minimum of 2 m.
