Coolest Cooler is a portable refrigerator that has probably never existed before. Its creator gained 60,000 supporters on the Internet who donated $13,285,226 in 52 days. This is the best result in the history of Kickstarter so far.
On the one hand, you can say - much ado about nothing. After all, there are many coolers on the market and one more model will not make much of a difference. But are you sure?
Coolest Cooler looks quite good, and the stylized inscription refers to the vintage style - i.e. it is supposed to look old-fashioned. The capacity of the refrigerator is 60 liters and there are two compartments inside. But it's not the capacity or interesting style that makes this device stand out the most. What is surprising is its functionality, which goes far beyond the capabilities of an ordinary refrigerator.
A refrigerator that crushes ice
Coolest Cooler has, for example, a built-in blender . Just insert the included container into the appropriate slot on the refrigerator to start the mixer, which can prepare a fruit cocktail or even crush ice. A fridge and a blender are a good combination, because a cold drink will come in handy during a picnic on a hot day.
The blender uses an 18V battery to power the blender. By equipping the refrigerator with a USB socket, you can use the built-in power supply, e.g. to charge your cell phone . The charger, like the entire refrigerator, is waterproof, so you can use it, e.g. near water.
Hot rhythms
But that's not all. To make relaxation more pleasant, the refrigerator is equipped with speakers that communicate via Bluetooth with the phone. So when you are lying on a hammock, just select music from your phone and point the camera towards the fridge, and it will start playing sounds in good quality.
The refrigerator can even be used as a luggage trolley . This is possible not only because it has wide wheels that make it easy to pull it even on the beach, but it is also equipped with a system of hooks that allow you to place and attach luggage on it.
The all-knowing set
Do you think that's all? If so, you are wrong. After opening the fridge, it turns out that the lid has a set of six plates and a knife - all made of plastic. The lid can also be used as a cutting board , and there is even a bottle opener on the side of the fridge.
The refrigerator lid has an LED lighting strip , making it easy to use it also in the evening.
Twice is a charm
Ryan Grepper created his first prototype of a refrigerator with speakers and a blender 10 years ago - then the device looked more like a boom-box radio than a refrigerator. In December 2013, Grepper presented a refined version of his product on Kickstarter. This is a place where anyone can submit their project and ask Internet users for help, offering interesting prizes in return (e.g. a T-shirt, a discount on the finished product or the right to co-decide on the final shape of the product).
Crowdfunding, however, did not work at that time. However, this did not discourage the originator. He refined his product and in the summer of 2014 he asked Internet users for help again. This time , donations exceeded $13 million, although the designer expected only $50,000. dollars!
The refrigerator will cost at most $299 . It should go into production next year.
